About the Role

The Audit Assurance & Risk Advisory Services Branch is responsible for working across the organisation to undertake audits of operational activities, systems, and projects; support and assist with business continuity activities; manage and assess risks, controls, compliance, and insurance obligations to enhance and protect the interests of the Council and the community. The Branch also supports the operations of the Audit Committee.

The role of the Corporate Risk and Insurance Officer is to provide assistance and manage tasks related to the functions for corporate insurance policies including annual renewal, maintenance of insurance records, respond to insurance enquires and liaising with Council’s insurer and insurance brokers. To support, review and continually improve the organisation’s compliance with relevant regulatory, legal and policy obligations.

Primarily, you will:

Risk, Insurance and Governance Responsibilities:

Manage the administrative function for corporate insurance policies including their annual renewal; maintenance of insurance records and database; respond to insurance queries; correspondence and attend meetings with insurance brokers as required.
Research, analyse and prepare documentation on risk and insurance matters – such as quarterly / annual claim reports and insurance information / manual.
Coordinate the review and maintenance of Council’s business continuity plans (BCPs) with relevant areas of Council, compile master combined BCP and arrange for documentation to be published on intranet.
Assist coordinator with BCP training and testing.
Maintain Council’s ASIC and Trademark records database.
About you

As a professional in this field, you will possess a formal relevant qualification (Degree) in business, risk management, quality systems or related field; or significant experience working in these disciplines preferably in a large diverse organisation.

You will have demonstrated leadership skills to act as a senior member of the team and possess strong analytical skills covering situation appraisal, decision making, problem solving, risk management, and the ability to analyse data and trends.

As a requirement of this role, you will have substantial knowledge and experience working with the relevant legislation, policies, procedures and standards relevant to corporate risk and insurance.
