About us

Corrections Victoria's purpose is to deliver an effective corrections system for a safe community. Community Correctional Services (CCS), is overseen by Corrections Victoria, a division of the Department of Justice and Community Safety. CCS is responsible for the management and supervision of people on parole, clients under post sentence supervision and court orders.

About the role

Court Assessment & Prosecutions Officers are responsible for supporting the operation of the Court Assessment and Prosecutions Service and applying relevant work practices. This includes conducting court assessments to determine an offender's suitability for a court order; facilitating the variation or cancellation of an order; or prosecuting individuals who fail to comply with their orders. Court Assessment & Prosecutions Officers will provide high quality evidence based advice to the judiciary in relation to sentencing.

The position will be required to adhere to local or regional rostering arrangements and other staffing management practices as directed.

To be successful in this role, you will have:

experience or knowledge of court processes, prosecutions or related areas
an ability to provide human services in needs assessment and development of interventions
capability to provide evidence based advice and recommendations to the court that maximise offender responsiveness interventions
strong stakeholder management and interpersonal skills
an ability to manage offenders exhibiting challenging behaviours and escalate as required.
A relevant qualification in social work, law, human services, criminal justice or criminology and experience in a court advice, assessments or prosecutions field is also desirable.
