Key Responsibilities include ensuring the quality of the Commercial Banking client portfolio is maintained within acceptable parameters as defined by ME credit policy and country underwriting standards (CUS), and that reporting of information relating to the portfolio is timely and accurate.

Proactive management of the portfolio credit risk profile within agreed risk appetite reduces P&L volatility by running a largely "surprise-free" and well-managed ME book.
Strategy
• Support the Senior Credit Officer/Senior Credit Officer in planning the development of risk parameters for India Medium Enterprise Business according to Risk Appetite and Policy Frameworks and documents in the relevant Portfolio Guidelines/Risk Appetite Mandates.
• Support the Senior Credit Officer in developing business plans with the provision of cost and impairment forecasts and a balanced judgment on the external environment.
Business
• Increasing working profits through effective management of the loan asset portfolio to help develop the franchise in a sustainable way and minimize provisions.
• Maximizing Economic Revenue through effective management of the risk/reward relationships.
• Maintaining credit quality and standards of professionalism for the risk function.
• Ensure effective implementation of Group Policies/Circulars/Procedures.
• Participate actively in any group initiative to improve systems and processes.
• Regularly attending and making meaningful contributions to the Regional Credit Issues Forum.
Credit Processes
• Ensuring the quality of Limit Applications (BCAs) meets Group standards, particularly regarding completeness and depth of risk analysis.
• Approving BCAs falling within own discretion and supporting applications requiring approval outside delegated credit authority, where appropriate.
• Workshopping new business deals with Business and providing them with new business/product ideas.
• Highlighting/approving breaches of Credit Policy and Local Underwriting Standards.
• Undertaking regular customer visits to better understand the business environment.
• Maintaining Turn-around Time of BCA approvals.
Risk Management
• Ensuring compliance with the Operational Risk Management Architecture (ORMA) framework and reporting.
• Ensuring full awareness of all policies & procedures issued in relation to money laundering prevention, ensuring compliance with these policies & procedures on an ongoing basis and immediately reporting any deviations to the Supervisor.
Governance
• Ensuring compliance with all credit policy and CUS and highlighting/approving any divergence.
• Ensuring EAR process adherence and participating in monthly EAR & ASTAR discussions. Assisting relationship managers in identifying and managing accounts exhibiting signs of deterioration and assisting Group Special Assets Management, where appropriate, in managing stressed accounts to maximize recoveries and minimize losses.
• Supporting all portfolio-related analysis for various reviews initiated within/outside the country.
Key Stakeholders
• Internal: In-country ME/Business Banking Head, Relationship Management Teams, Senior Credit Officer/Chief Credit Officer.
• External: Executives (including equivalent CRM Units) of other banks, Key Corporate and Institutional relationships in country, Directors/Key contacts in the business community, Auditors/Government regulators.
Regulatory & Business Conduct
• Displaying exemplary conduct and living by the Group's Values and Code of Conduct.
• Taking personal responsibility for embedding the highest standards of ethics, including regulatory and business conduct, across Standard Chartered Bank.
• Leading the team to achieve outcomes set out in the Bank's Conduct Principles (Fair Outcomes for Clients, Effective Financial Markets, Financial Crime Compliance, The Right Environment).
• Effectively and collaboratively identifying, escalating, mitigating, and resolving risk, conduct, and compliance matters.
• Serving as a Director of the Board.
• Exercising authorities delegated by the Board of Directors and acting in accordance with Articles of Association (or equivalent).
Other Responsibilities
• Embedding Here for Good and Group's brand and values in the team.
