Lead a small, specialist group of staff in a supportive and high-performing team environment
As a world leading library, the National Library of Australia offers an innovative and collaborative workplace where exceptional team players and technical specialists can flourish. As part of the Library’s team, you will help support organisational reform, working collaboratively with your team to shape the Library’s future.
The Library is seeking to fill an ongoing Assistant Director, Data Interoperation and Standards EL1 role in the Trove Data and Platforms Section of the Collaboration Branch.
In this role you will lead a small team that manages the ingest and quality of data in the Australian National Bibliographic Data system, which underpins the online Trove service.
The role involves overseeing the work of the team who harvest, manage and transform data from approximately 900 institutions, while engaging with client system staff and internal stakeholders to resolve issues, determine service enhancements and provide data products.

You will also be able engage with an international community working with emerging linked data systems for libraries.
The branch works collaboratively, with a strong culture of mutual support and collective problem solving, as well as passion for innovation in cultural institutions. We're looking for someone who values teamwork, is motivated by shared success. And who can lead and champion innovation, even when working with legacy systems and limited resources.
The following would be highly regarded:
Knowledge of MARC21 and BIBFRAME including the Library of Congress’s conversion tools.
Practical expertise in Library Information system and cataloguing knowledge.
Qualifications or experience in Library Information Management or Information Technology.
