In this role, you will develop and manage data quality processes, metrics, and controls for new and existing applications. You’ll conduct data quality assurance activities, including profiling and resolving significant data issues. Additionally, you'll support metadata development and ensure compliance with data standards. As a key resource, you'll provide expert guidance on data quality initiatives to improve performance and drive continuous improvement.
Location: Greater Toronto Area, ON (Hybrid 2-Day Onsite)
Status: Full-Time or Contract
Responsibilities:
Ensure data quality processes are followed for applications and projects, addressing issues such as uniqueness, integrity, accuracy, consistency, and completeness
Identify areas for data quality improvement and resolve issues efficiently by coordinating with stakeholders; escalate when necessary
Monitor critical data elements proactively and report progress on data quality improvements
Communicate data quality findings and knowledge to users and assist in implementing data quality processes with Business, Technology, and Architecture teams
Assist in defining and measuring data quality metrics for applications and ensure business data definitions and metadata standards are maintained
Support the development of data dictionaries, mapping documents, and ensure documentation is current and accurate
Lead or support data cleansing initiatives to eliminate corrupt, missing, or redundant data
Qualifications, Skills & Experience:
3-5 years of experience in data analysis and business analysis (BA/BSA), including requirements gathering, documentation, and translating business needs into technical specifications
3+ years of hands-on work with complex databases across legacy, transactional, and warehousing systems
Proficient in SQL and tools like DBVisualizer for data profiling, analysis, and quality checks
Experience with Oracle Datafox DQ, data quality measurement, issue resolution, and supporting data governance standards and procedures
Solid understanding of relational databases, data architecture, and data integration
Background in quality assurance (QA) and change management
Proven ability to identify root causes, analyze trends, and support data-driven decision-making
Skilled at working with cross-functional teams and providing consultative guidance to both the business and technical teams
Strong verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively in a fast-paced environment
Nice to Have:
Detailed understanding of metadata
Basic understanding of data governance practices – data stewardship principles, data architecture principles, data quality, and basic data management best practices
