Responsibilities
Designs, implements, and maintains databases with respect to access methods, access time, batch processes, device allocation, validation checks, organization, protection and security, documentation, and statistical methods
Maintains database dictionaries and integrates systems through database design
Maintains and documents shell scripts and batch processes
Ensures that documentation is complete and up-to-date
Develops and applies procedures for periodic database backup
20% Implements designs and structures provided by Systems and Data Architects
Performs installation of software and hardware environments in a timely manner in keeping with current release levels
Creates and maintains schedules for software maintenance and upgrades
15% Prepares appropriate dimensional data structures and provides logical interfaces for the extract/transform/load process
15% Maintains database and ensures its availability to users
Maintains database backup and recovery
15% Monitors database performance and assists with database security
15% Develop and implement techniques to prevent system problems, troubleshoots incidents to recover services, and support root cause analysis
10% Validates, loads, tests, and verifies data; Performs complete functional testing of database structures and verifies information provided in all environments including development, test, and production
10% Provides project management support regarding most technical aspects of implementing project release upgrades for assigned systems which includes: properly following a project life cycle, the development of project plans, completing all appropriate documentation and notifications in order to obtain resolution within the established timeframes
