Job description
Join us as an Infrastructure Engineer
• You’ll engineer infrastructure technology for public and private cloud environments, complying with security, resilience, sustainability, and operational requirements with observability and guardrails built in
• You’ll also use automation to provide testing and a route to live for the product, working with customers to help them use our products appropriately through a users’ CI or CD pipeline
• This is a chance to work with colleagues across the bank to share engineering best practices, allowing you to expand your network and gain exposure for you and your work
• We're offering this role at associate level

What you'll do

As an Infrastructure Engineer, you’ll contribute to and manage the selection, creation and maintenance of technologies required to meet the needs of our customers, strategic targets and architecture outcomes, along with developing products using modern engineering practices and tools.

We’ll look to you to collaborate with stakeholders to inform product roadmaps, detailing lifecycles of the technology from new products through to end of support and retirement. You’ll also support engineered products and respond to user feedback, new feature requests and resolve production issues wanted by the Product Owner.

Additionally, you’ll:
• Develop technical skills through continuous learning and development
• Work within a team to design intuitive, self-service infrastructure products
• Contribute to the delivery of infrastructure as code solutions
• Work with users to help use our products and gain feedback
• Provide operational support for pattern or product related issues
• Generate innovative ideas and drive the delivery of those through product features

The skills you'll need

To thrive in this role, you’ll have experience in software development or automation scripting such as Python or Shell, with an understanding of the software development lifecycle. You’ll also have experience in utilizing modern infrastructure as code via tooling.

We’ll expect you to bring a good understanding of Agile working practices and toolsets with the ability to relate everyday work to the vision of the feature team, platform and domain.

Furthermore, you’ll need:
• At least four years of experience in Database Administration primarily MSSQL Server
• Experience of Administration and Managing of MSSQL Database Instances
• Knowledge in Unix, Windows Operating systems
• Knowledge On PowerShell, T-SQL’s language, technologies such as GitLab, Python, Terraform and AWS

Your Role and Responsibilities

As a software developer, you will work with clients and others in a multidisciplinary team to define requirements and develop solutions. You will design, code, and test solutions for the IDAA and Datagate IBM Z platform using programming languages including Java, Python and C++. You will support the product through maintenance activities such as responding to high severity problems and cases, performing problem diagnosis, and providing fixes.

Required Technical and Professional Expertise
• 5-8 years of software development experience
• Expertise working with one more of the following languages: Java, C/C++
• Experience in developing tools and products using at least one scripting languages –
• Ansibile, Python, JavaScript, Typescript, Ruby, Rust, Swift,Kotlin.
• Proficient in source control management tools (GitHub, Tekton, Jenkins) and with Agile Life Cycle
• Management tools
• Strong analytical, debugging and problem-solving skills to analyze issues and defects reported by
• customer-facing and test teams
• Self-motivated towards meeting agreed goals
• Ability to Innovate in the areas of Product Engineering
• Open to Cross Time Zone Collaboration
• Ability to use conference and collaboration tools effectively

Preferred Technical and Professional Expertise

Experience / Familiar with
• CI/CD and build pipelines
• Familiarity with Kubernetes
• Databases and Database systems including SQL databases
• REST API’s
• Linux server environments
• Microservice architecture and development leveraging frameworks such as Springboot, Quarkus,
• Projects including feature development, troubleshooting, production support, and customization based on business requirements.
• Design and Development of Code using Security Best Practices
