Job description
We are looking for a skilled L2 Database Support Engineer to enhance our database support team. This role involves managing and optimizing SQL Server environments, troubleshooting complex issues, and ensuring robust database performance and security.

Responsibilities
• Application Knowledge: Develop a deep understanding of application and product features.
• Troubleshooting: Analyze and resolve intricate database issues efficiently.
• Root Cause Analysis: Identify and address root causes to prevent recurring problems.
• SQL Server Architecture: Manage SQL Server components, understand database design, and interpret database objects and dependencies.
• SQL Querying and Scripting: Write and optimize T-SQL queries, stored procedures, triggers, and functions using SQL Server Management Studio (SSMS).
• Performance Tuning: Optimize queries, manage indexing, and monitor SQL Server resources for peak performance.
• Backup and Security: Implement backup strategies and encryption techniques to ensure data integrity and security.
• Database Maintenance: Oversee SQL Server Agent jobs, conduct DBCC checks, and ensure routine maintenance tasks are performed.
• Tools and Utilities: Utilize SQL Server monitoring tools for performance tracking and issue resolution.

Requirements

Technical Skills
• Proficient in SQL Server Architecture (Engine, Agent, SSIS, SSRS).
• Expertise in T-SQL and SSMS.
• Experience in performance tuning, including query optimization, indexing, and resource management.
• Knowledge of backup strategies and encryption techniques.
• Competence in managing automated jobs and performing database integrity checks.
• Familiarity with SQL Server monitoring tools.
