Key Competence & Responsibilities:
• Development and implementation of Engineering programs, policies, standards and procedures to ensure efficient and safe operations.
• Drive Engineering excellence in BU.
• Achieve high safety standards and safe working practices.
• Ensure continual improvement leadership at all levels of the organization through the development of programs, standards, hierarchy of controls, training, and implementation of best practices.
• Ensure Control & Co-ordination in engineering activities for the container terminal and provide technical support to engineering personnel ensuring that the engineering department provides a fully functional, effective, and flexible workforce, maintaining high standards of workmanship.
• Managerial experience in a container port environment with exposure to ZPMC, Kone, Noell, Kalmar container handling equipment would be an advantage.
• Ensure adherence to Engineering & Reliability Framework to meet strategic objectives at a BU level.
• To adopt LEAN methodologies to target waste reduction in all Engineering activities.
• Ensure GEAR updates & upkeep Targets of KPI’s & have familiarization with maintenance ERP.
• Ensure regular updates on Engineering Risk Register and allocate necessary investment and resources to manage the risks following the Enterprise Risk Management Framework.
• To Prepare a 5-year plan, annual maintenance capital (Capex) and expense budgets (Opex).
• Ensure that BUs follow the equipment technical specifications as prescribed in I-Spec for Equipment procurement and advise on service level agreements with tenderers and service providers.
• Ensure Life Cycle plans are maintained for critical assets to link the required investment to support the assets to their retained risk.
• Support Head -Engineering to provide high quality, cost effective, maintenance services.
• Review corrective action program(s) to mitigate identified high risk operations by determining the needed course of action and ensure implementation of the risk reduction controls.
• Ensure Total Cost of Ownership approach throughout the asset lifecycle; the BU EAMS (Enterprise Asset Management System) shall follow the global Engineering strategy for standardization and the EAMS configuration shall follow the global standards.
• Ensure Electrification and Decarbonization KPIs are met as per Target.
• Ensure Engineering data accuracy across businesses. Provide timely reports on key performance and productivity trends within the region.
• Ensures productive and efficient use of engineering resources and work closely with the workforce and ensure productivity and efficiency within the maintenance team conforms to DPW standard.
• Provides reports for Senior Management within the department, monitor KPI & SLA.
• Develop and trains sub-ordinate for higher roles and responsibilities.
• Ensure the environmental and occupational health and safety work practices comply with statutory and corporate policies and procedures. Establishing and maintaining proper SOP and RA for Engineering
Qualifications & Experience
B.E. /B Tech. in Mechanical with MBA could be added advantage or Class One Marine Engineer from reputed institute.
• Master Mariner with minimum of 10 years’ experience
• 05 Years as a Manager in a large Container seaport, or large logistics conglomerate with extensive experience in handling heavy loads, equipment’s, and complex workflows.
• Should be aware of latest norms, regulations, best practices in handling heavy loads, hazardous containers/ cargoes, safe working procedures, regulatory & statutory compliances.
• Good interpersonal skills, oral/written communication skills, excellent team building capabilities, planning, negotiation, and decision-making skills including ability to prepare high level reports for Executives and external parties.
• Should be able to work independently in a multi-cultural environment with strong awareness of formal and informal organizational structures.
• A strong working knowledge of employee and industrial relations frameworks and excellent skills in assessing risk at both organizational and individual levels.
