The IT Operations Specialist focuses upon activities that help to identify and manage the changing customer / business / user needs (regarding IT requirements) and ensure customer satisfaction with Vodafone s IT products and services in line with the Customer Service Management strategy. Providing technical advice and administration across the IT lifecycle for all end-users.The IT Operations Specialist has a good understanding of established concepts and procedures in IT operations including administration and maintenance of assigned applications, services, systems and solutions, incident management, problem management, change and release management and vendor management, to drive improvements through innovation, best practice techniques, and collaboration.Typically reports to the IT Operations Manager.

Working experience in Kafka, Kafka setup, Kafka Streams, Kafka Connect
Operations handling -
• Fundamentals of Apache/Confluent Kafka
• Kafka architecture, Managing a Kafka Cluster
• Broker, Zookeeper awareness and management
• Creation of topics, configuring partitions, replications
• Offset awareness.
• Providing Durability, Data replication and retention
• Optimizing Kafka’s Performance
• Kafka Security
• Data Pipelines with Kafka Connect
Troubleshooting -
Awareness in managing -
• In sync replicas
• Under-replicated partitions, or too many partitions per topic
• Unbalanced partition assignment
• Unbalanced partition assignment
• Offline partitions
• Kafka Liveness Check Problems
• Performance impact of New Brokers
• Long-Term Storage Solution
• Perfect Data Retention Settings
• Upscaling and Topic Rebalancing
• Issue with replicating the Topic Offsets with Mirror Maker.
Should have awareness in-
• Unix, Shell scripting / any scripting awareness is an added advantage.
• ITIL methodology
• Skills in messaging system technologies desirable
• Corresponding Incident- and problem-management process
Operational Support and awareness -
• L2 (Operational Support &Troubleshooting along with Deployment & configuration Knowhow)
• Support new and changed applications in preproduction and production environments.
• Ensure proper implementation in production environments.
• Environment maintenance ensuring proper functionality of technical application interfaces.
