Seeking : Sr. Deskside, this is a 3-month contract

Location & Address: Northern Ontario

Hours (Schedule): two weeks on-site / 2 weeks off-site, (Onsite/Remote)

Duration: 3 Months

Job Description: Field Services specialists to provide general IT support with a blend of infrastructure skills – general data center server and network skills, e.g., structured cabling, racking, and stacking, wi-fi support including access point troubleshooting. They will have Senior SMEs who can support them remotely.

Purpose of the role:

The core purpose and primary function is to support the Finning/CAT mining systems technologies.
• Ensure safe, reliable, and effective operation & maintenance of mine technology solutions including:
• Cat® MineStarTM Fleet (monitoring and management system)
• MineStarTM Health (VIMS)
• Terrain (HP-GPS for drilling, grading, and loading operations)
• Cat® Driver Safety System
• Cat MineSenseTM
• TyreSense (Tire pressure and temperature monitoring)
• Fuel delivery system and fuel management system
• Troubleshoot, repair, and replace as necessary mining technology solutions devices on heavy mining equipment and other mobile equipment.
• Optimize and maintain the open pit wireless mesh and associated network, including the node power sources (AC/DC, solar, and supporting fuels).
• Undertake execution of on-the-ground tasks as assigned.
• Take ownership and responsibility for uptime and proper functioning of mining systems and technologies. Conduct day-to-day maintenance, troubleshooting, and continuous improvement of mining and operational technologies across the site.
• Audit existing practices and work with OT senior staff to develop audit systems for infrastructure and preventative maintenance programs.
• Provide frontline support to the Mining Systems Technologist, Electrical Engineers, Energy Managers, and maintenance, production, & engineering teams.
• Work between departments and external vendors to allocate resources and personnel as necessary to minimize downtimes and troubleshoot problems.
• Manage the Dispatch computer terminals and monitor configurations.
• Maintain installation and work practice standards for all technologies.

Other responsibilities may include:
• Support all other sections of this Department and others when available and when required.
• Support Information and Knowledge Sharing on appropriate mining and milling KPIs.
• Analyse and interpret data from mining systems to identify opportunities for improvement

Technical Accountabilities:
• Execute routine preventative maintenance, checks, audits and calibrations to maintain the integrity of both hardware & software components of fleet technology, wireless, data acquisition, and geotechnical systems.
• Maintain site master versions for configuration files and settings and make these available to supporting personnel.
• Conduct performance evaluations to identify operational limitations and initiate steps to enhance system performance.
• Ensure compliance with change management procedures with registers kept up to date and audited regularly.
• Utilise domain knowledge to assist in Root Cause Analysis, process improvement, and post-incident investigations.

General Accountabilities:
• Ensure all required hardware is stocked and managed to achieve optimal uptime of the mining systems.
• Be involved in root cause investigations
• Provide technical guidance on the integration of new systems with existing site infrastructure.
• Identify & execute minor improvement projects
