Qualification: Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Business, International Relations, or a related field
Experience: 10–15 years in International Business Development, preferably in the Defence & Aerospace sector
Job Purpose
We are seeking an experienced and strategic General Manager – International Business Development to lead global expansion initiatives across the APAC region and other key international markets. The ideal candidate will be responsible for identifying new opportunities, forming strategic partnerships, and driving high-impact engagements that align with the organization’s global vision in the defence and aerospace domains.
Key Responsibilities
• Develop and implement global go-to-market strategies with a primary focus on APAC and other international markets
• Identify and secure new business opportunities with international governments, OEMs, and defence organizations
• Lead contract acquisition efforts including RFPs, proposals, and bid responses for large-scale defence and aerospace projects
• Establish and maintain strong relationships with international stakeholders, such as defence ministries, industry partners, and regulatory bodies
• Align international business strategies with the company’s long-term growth roadmap and product capabilities
• Analyze international defence trends, geopolitical developments, and competitive landscapes to support proactive market strategies
• Ensure compliance with international trade regulations, including ITAR, EAR, and other export control laws
• Collaborate cross-functionally with finance, legal, engineering, and supply chain teams to tailor offerings for regional markets
• Represent the organization at global defence exhibitions, air shows, and international trade missions
• Lead, mentor, and manage a high-performing business development team across strategic geographies
Key Skills & Competencies
• Strategic Market Expansion: Proven track record in creating and executing international market entry and growth strategies
• Stakeholder Engagement: Strong interpersonal and networking skills for working with government and defence officials
• Regulatory & Export Compliance: In-depth understanding of defence export controls and compliance standards
• Contract & Deal Negotiation: Skilled in negotiating complex defence contracts and managing risk
• Geopolitical Awareness: Understanding of political and economic dynamics impacting global defence trade
• Leadership: Strong leadership qualities with experience in managing cross-cultural and cross-functional teams
Preferred Qualifications
• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Business, Engineering, International Relations, or equivalent
• 10–15 years of relevant experience in international business development in the defence or aerospace sectors
• Prior experience in global defence markets, including APAC, Middle East, or Europe
• Experience with high-value contract management, joint ventures, and strategic alliances
• Fluency in English (additional foreign languages are a plus)
