This Director, Business Development, Oncology role is responsible for establishing strategic growth through new client acquisition. The responsibilities include identifying, prospecting, and closing new business with strategic accounts, mentoring the Account Managers within various regions by acting as the Subject Matter Expert in the overall growth strategy for the AM’s territory and driving overall new growth in all accounts.
The ideal candidate will have a minimum of 6-8 years in oncology with a deep understanding of tumor profiling, molecular landscape, Healthsytems, GPOs, oncology practices, pathology practices and strong network and business acumen.
The Director is a collaborative liaison who helps customers achieve their goals, manages contract and financial aspects, and advocates when necessary to see resolution of their issues.
• Identify new opportunities and work with PLS leadership to develop strategies, tactics and resource plans necessary to drive profitable growth.
• Understand and interpret laboratory management contracts and drive appropriate execution. Manage process to amend and renew contracts for assigned accounts as directed by changes in hospital requirements and approved by the Business and/or Lab Advisory Committees.
• Develop relationships with business and medical senior leadership and key contacts on client side.
• Proactively partner with Commercial and Operations teams to ensure smooth transition of new customers and maintenance to minimize business risk.
• Develop strategic plans to reduce attrition and at-risk customers. Participates in new customer onboarding and optimizing customer service levels, acting as a main point of contact and communication point between the customer and various internal Quest functions, including, but not limited to, regional Lab Ops, PLS center-led functions (BD, Supply Chain, Finance), and other Customer Support functions.
• Responsible for maintenance of contracted services and management of P&L.
• Connect regularly with customer C-suite and laboratory leadership continue to see and appreciate our value proposition.
• Develops and maintains "core" knowledge of competitive products, services, technology solutions, and reimbursement/billing issues.
• Demonstrates "core" level knowledge of anatomical pathology, technology solutions and competitive strategies through the use of company resources, on the job training, in house literature, marketing material, and sales brochures.
• Provide regular visibility for VP on industry trends, best practices, and competitive insights.
• Minimum 25-30% travel required or as needed.
Required Work Experience
• Must have a global understanding of department functions related to all aspects of oncology
• Several successful years selling into the molecular profiling and/or oncology space not exclusive of products and services outside of the Caris product portfolio.
• Possess high degree of understanding the client relationship with physicians, their needs, and how we can provide service and technology solutions for their pathology needs.
• Possess strong knowledge of oncology therapeutics, surgical oncology intervention and molecular laboratory science. A working knowledge of oncology biomarkers and associated drug response is a major advantage.
• Possess strong working knowledge of the billing and reimbursement laboratory landscape to be a resource to the customer.
• Deep relationships with and access to medical and or surgical oncology specialists is a must
• Bachelor's degree is required

• Strong presentation and Executive Presence; proven track record of gaining access and build trust with key leaders, able to articulate business needs and objectives.
• Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, including the ability to communicate complex issues clearly and concisely, both written and verbal.
• Ability to understand and articulate strengths, weaknesses, opportunities and threats in competitive offerings.

• Frequently required to talk or hear.
• Frequently required to utilize visual acuity to operate equipment, read technical information, and/or use a keyboard.
