About the Role
We are seeking a visionary and strategic leader to join our team as the Director of Health, Safety and Wellbeing (HSW). In this pivotal role, you will drive the strategic direction, governance, and operational delivery of our workplace health, safety, and wellbeing initiatives across the organisation.

Reporting to the Chief People Officer, the Director of HSW is responsible for fostering a culture of care, accountability, and proactive risk management. You will lead a team of dedicated professionals to ensure systems and practices are in place for hazard identification, risk mitigation, incident management, and mental health support. Your leadership will promote a holistic approach to wellbeing—physical, psychological, and social—enhancing the safety and resilience of our university community.

This role offers the opportunity to collaborate closely with executive and operational leaders, aligning safety and wellbeing strategies with broader organizational goals. You will ensure compliance with regulatory standards, exceed internal service expectations, and continuously improve practices to create a safer, healthier, and more supportive work environment for all.

About You
To be suitable for this role you will need to have extensive experience and demonstrated ability in a medium to large sized organisation, in the key accountabilities below:
Knowledge and experience in contemporary safety practice (e.g. Safety Type II, Safety Differently, etc).
Outstanding planning and organisational skills, with experience in establishing priorities, allocating resources and meeting deadlines while working under pressure in a large, complex organisation.
Exceptional analytical and conceptual skills including demonstrated ability to quickly assimilate new concepts and information and deliver positive and innovative solutions.
Experience in service delivery including financial management and service level agreements.
Proven ability to facilitating individual and organisational learning, lead change and continuous improvement.

Qualifications
Postgraduate qualification in Health Safety & Wellbeing with extensive relevant experience
