We are looking for a passionate and motivated Director to Lead the IT Operations, Infrastructure and Cybersecurity transformation at the Australian Maritime Safety Authority and is a highly autonomous senior role. This position is being offered in Canberra, Sydney, Melbourne and Brisbane on an ongoing basis.
ABOUT THE ROLE
Reporting to the Chief Information Officer, the Director IT Operations & Cybersecurity will be responsible for the day-to-day operations, delivery of IT services and cybersecurity across AMSA. In addition to the day-to-day operations, the role is responsible for driving the transformation, modernisation and continuous improvement of core IT capabilities covering service desk, infrastructure, cloud, networks, IT procurement, IT contract management, end user compute and cybersecurity.
This position is part of the IT leadership team and is a critical business-facing role that has a strong focus on continuously improving the employee experience.
You will be responsible for:
Leading the IT Operations and Cybersecurity team which includes core IT capabilities covering service desk, infrastructure, cloud, networks, end user compute, cybersecurity, projects/programs, IT procurement and IT contract management.
Oversee end-to-end IT service delivery processes, ensuring effective and efficient IT operations and services are delivered across AMSA in line with any agreed SLAs and business expectations.
Lead AMSA’s end-to-end cybersecurity capability from strategy development through to day-to-day security operations.
Define and implement a service delivery and sourcing model that reflects the regional nature of AMSA’s organisation.
Working with your team, other areas of AMSA and outsourced providers, continuously improve the operations, services, processes and control environment with a mindset of uplifting the employee experience.
Directs the delivery of projects and programs that enhance and transform the capabilities within the scope of responsibilities.
Ensure AMSA’s IT assets have robust lifecycle management plans in place that maintain the currency, security, performance and supportability of core infrastructure and end user devices.
Establish and maintain service catalogues and service level agreements.
Provide IT security advice to IT leadership, IT staff and business stakeholders.
Define and implement a set of IT security controls, processes and tools to protect the integrity of AMSA’s operations, customer information and underpinning systems and data.
Ensure AMSA’s IT Operations and cybersecurity comply with relevant Australian Government regulations and standards.
Maintain a security operations centre capability to monitor, prevent, detect, investigate and respond to cyber threats and incidents.
Define, implement and maintain a cybersecurity assurance framework to address 3rd party risk.
Ensure effective capacity planning is in place to factor in organic growth and change delivered through projects.
Develop, maintain and execute strategies, roadmaps and plans to transform and modernise the core IT capabilities and cybersecurity of AMSA, including the broad adoption of cloud based capabilities.
Ensure the availability and recoverability of core IT and cybersecurity capabilities are in line with agreed SLAs and standards.
Lead and Chair AMSA’s Change Advisory Board.
Maintain and enhance AMSA’s Disaster Recovery Plan and associated technologies and solution.
Ensure effective cybersecurity controls are implemented across AMSA’s infrastructure, cloud, network and end user devices.
Ensure effective and efficient processes are in place to manage IT procurement and contract management, while fulfilling your obligations with respect to procurement policies at AMSA and within government.
Actively manage key vendors and outsource partners to maximise value and ensure delivery is in line with contractual obligations and performance metrics.
Collaborate continuously with members of the IT leadership team to maintain alignment across teams.
Manage the budget and resources associated with the capabilities within IT operations and service delivery.
Lead, mentor and manage a team of IT professional and support the personal development of your team members through development plans and training.

QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE
To be successful in this position, you will have the following skills and experience:
Extensive experience in IT Operations and Service Delivery.
Extensive experience in Cybersecurity frameworks and best practices.
Extensive experience in senior IT leaderships roles.
Extensive experience managing the performance of 3rd party suppliers.
Demonstrated experience leading the delivery of IT services to a workforce that is distributed across multiple geographically diverse locations.
Demonstrated experience in leading and managing a team, including:
Management of staff performance
Budget management
Resource Management
Ability to manage sensitive and sometimes confidential information.
