Director of Financial Reporting

Lead the preparation and filing of all quarterly and annual SEC reports, including 10-Qs, 10-Ks, and 8-Ks
Oversee disclosures for complex financial transactions, including warrants, stock compensation, and derivatives
Ensure accurate and timely debt reporting
Manage the company’s SOX compliance efforts, including the design, implementation, and maintenance of effective internal controls over financial reporting
Collaborate closely with other members of the accounting and leadership team to support overall financial strategy and decision-making
Manage and mentor one direct report, providing guidance and support in their professional development
Conduct regular reviews and assessments of financial controls to identify areas for improvement and ensure ongoing compliance with SOX
Stay current with SEC regulations, accounting standards, and industry best practices to ensure compliance and optimize financial reporting processes
Requirements:
CPA required
Significant experience in SEC reporting, preferably with a background from a notable public accounting firm auditing publicly traded clients
In-house corporate experience with a publicly traded company is highly preferred
Strong technical accounting knowledge, particularly in SEC reporting, SOX compliance, and accounting for complex financial instruments
Proven ability to manage and mentor staff
Excellent communication skills and the ability to work collaboratively with cross-functional teams
Detail-oriented with a strong focus on accuracy, compliance, and internal controls
Local to Chicago area
