Position Overview
This role reports to the Vice President of Development and is responsible for developing and implementing the overall strategic marketing and public relations plan. This includes communicating the organization's mission to the community, managing the website and social media channels, and working with third-party agencies and vendors.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Communications:
Develop, implement, and evaluate the effectiveness of annual communications plans.
Work with third-party agencies and vendors to ensure communication aligns with brand guidelines and messaging.
Drive coordinated organizational and executive communication platforms.
Ensure brand culture and messages consistently reflect organizational positions on topics and issues.
Provide insight, analysis, and counsel to senior leaders on communications strategies.
Assist with senior management during crisis situations.
Website/Social Media:
Maintain the website and social media platforms, ensuring content is current and relevant.
Create and manage web and donation forms.
Maintain best practices for sharing with stakeholders.
In collaboration with the development team, design and execute campaigns that meet shared goals and objectives.
Initiate, develop, execute, and measure the success of email marketing campaigns.
Media Relations/Donor Recognition:
Develop communication plans and materials related to organizational strategy.
Advise on opportunities to expand the club's ability to be positioned as thought leaders in youth development.
Ensure funders are recognized on the website, social media, and newsletters/annual reports as appropriate.
Serve as primary contact with different media outlets.
Createthe annual report for both the Organization and the Foundation.
Marketing/Collateral Materials:
Develop and maintain year-round marketing budgets.
In collaboration with the Development Team, create email content for event and campaign promotions.
Maintain and update corporate collateral materials.
Design, create, and manage the completion of all marketing production-related efforts.
Ensure creative marketing materials undergo regular review and adhere to brand guidelines.
Develop and communicate marketing plans, campaign results, and project recommendations to senior management.
Assist in outbound or inbound marketing activities.
Liaise with external vendors to execute promotional events and campaigns.
Analyze target market information to identify and recommend effective marketing approaches/strategies.
Public Relations:
Serve as a liaison between the organization and the public.
Develop and maintain a positive public image for the organization.
Write, review, and/or distribute press releases.
Respond to information requests from media contacts.
Establish and maintain positive relationships with media outlets, consumers, government employees, and public interest groups.
Arrange media interviews for senior management.
Evaluate advertising campaigns to ensure consistency with the organization's public relations strategy.
Qualifications
BA in marketing communications, journalism, or a related subject area; or a minimum of 5 years experience performing writing, marketing, and PR duties in an agency or fast-paced non-profit environment.
Thorough skills in understanding and effectively utilizing all news/media mediums.
Thorough written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills.
Proficiency with Google Analytics and web analysis tools.
Ability to work well in a fast-paced, collaborative environment.
Excellent computer skills, including proficiency in WordPress, Adobe InDesign, Photoshop, Illustrator, and Microsoft Office.
Experience writing compelling copy targeted to specific audiences via various outlets.
Developed work ethic to be responsible, accountable, and independently follow up, complete tasks, anticipate needs, and meet deadlines in a professional manner.
Excellent interpersonal skills and proven ability to effectively communicate in a professional manner.
Aptitude to assess situations to determine importance, urgency, and risks and make clear decisions which are timely and in the best interests of the Organization.
Strong organizational skills with the ability to work independently, prioritize tasks, organize time efficiently, judge information, and meet deadlines.
Special Conditions of Employment
Successful completion of pre-employment background check and maintaining a drug-free work environment.
Valid Driver's license and verification of insurance.
Certified school bus driver or ability to attain certification within nine (+) months.
Occasional weekend and evenings in support of fundraising events, committee meetings, trainings, and activities.
CPR & First Aid Certification.
