The Director of Service and Talent Management will provide strategic leadership and direction in supporting the University's talent management strategy including comprehensive recruitment, onboarding, orientation, and HR transactional services. This role will ensure the effective alignment of services with organizational goals, fostering a positive candidate and employee experience. Collaborating closely with various departments and stakeholders, the Director will ensure accurate and timely processing of HR transactions in support of operational objectives.
Lead, mentor, and manage a team responsible for delivering efficient and responsive HR services, including recruitment, onboarding, orientation, and transactional HR processes.
Develop and implement recruitment and selection strategies and standards to attract, select, and retain top talent, aligning with the University's strategic goals.
Oversee the entire recruitment lifecycle, ensuring an equitable, transparent, and efficient hiring process.
Oversee the orientation process for all new employees, ensuring they receive the necessary resources and information to successfully integrate into the University community.
Support the implementation and integration of an Applicant Tracking System (ATS) to enhance recruitment efficiency and data management.
Collaborate with Finance, Payroll, and other departments to guarantee accurate and timely processing of employee information.
Design and implement onboarding and orientation programs that facilitate a positive and productive integration experience for new employees.
Analyze recruitment metrics, HR transaction data, and industry trends to recommend improvements and inform decision-making.
Provide expert guidance and consultation to management on best practices in recruitment, selection, onboarding, and orientation.
Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in Human Resources Management, Business Administration, or a related field.
A Certified Human Resources Professional (CHRP) designation is required.
Minimum of 5 to 7 years of progressive experience in HR management, with significant experience in recruitment, selection and HR services.
Experience with the implementation of a Human Resources Information System (HRIS) or Applicant Tracking System (ATS) is considered an asset.
Experience collaborating with Payroll, Finance, and other departments to ensure accurate and timely data processing.
Proven leadership experience in managing HR teams, preferably within a complex, unionized, or public-sector environment.
Strong knowledge of employment legislation and Human Resources best practices in Ontario.
Exceptional interpersonal and communication skills, with a demonstrated ability to build positive working relationships across diverse stakeholders.
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with experience using HR metrics to drive informed decisions.
Ability to balance strategic leadership with hands-on operational management.
Ability to multi-task, prioritize effectively, and meet tight deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
Ability to work fluently, verbal and written, in both official languages, French and English is required.
The official University hours of operation shall be from +:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., Monday through Friday, during, and including, the months from September to April, and from 8:30 a.m. to 4:00 p.m Monday through Friday during and including May to August., amounting to thirty-three and three-quarter (33.75) hours per week.
