We have an exciting opportunity to join the Building and Tenancy Services branch as a Dispute Resolution Coordinator (Tenancy).



MBIE's Tenancy Dispute Resolution team provides services to tenants and landlords under the Residential Tenancies Act and the Unit Titles Act. In this role you will be part of a team responsible for the delivery of high-quality case management services to customers with a focus on meeting the needs of Maori and Aotearoa's diverse population. Your role would include reviewing Residential Tenancy Tribunal applications to determine the type of tenancy dispute and decide the best course of action.


You may need to provide parties with general information on problem resolution and how best to proceed with their issue.



You will be able to effectively prioritise your workload and conduct a range of scheduling and administrative tasks for the Tenancy Tribunal.



You will also schedule applications to Mediators' calendars and complete administrative matters like file management for cases.

Skills and Experience Required

Advanced skills of engagement within a customer centric model
Robust communication skills and the ability to explain often complex ideas, simply, to service users from all walks of life
Sound organisational, administrative, customer service skills
Conceptual and analytical skills to critically assess issues
Strong knowledge of the Microsoft Office applications
Experience working with legislationMust have the legal right to live and work in New Zealand
An understanding of the Residential Tenancy Act and its underlying principles would be desirable but is not essential.
