Job Description

The work location of this role is hybrid, meaning it will be performed both from home and from a LinkedIn office on select days, as determined by the business needs of the team.

We are seeking a world-class Distinguished Engineer to drive the technical vision and development of next-generation search products and technology at LinkedIn. This is a rare opportunity to redefine how millions of users experience LinkedIn in their career journey, leveraging cutting-edge advancements in AI and large language models (LLMs).
As a key leader in our organization, you will guide the design and implementation of a state-of-the-art search technology stack, building intuitive, personalized, and scalable search experiences. Your deep domain expertise building consumer search products will shape our approach to relevance, retrieval, indexing, and personalization, as well as enable seamless integration of LLMs and other AI-driven innovations.
Responsibilities
Shape the Future of LinkedIn Search: Lead the creation of a brand new, innovative search stack from the ground up, combining AI, LLM, and systems to deliver a highly intelligent search experience that’s relevant and personalized to our members.
Architect the Tech Stack: Drive the design of scalable, high-performing infrastructure to handle billions of queries with precision and reliability.
Leverage AI Expertise: Integrate state-of-the-art AI/ML and LLM technologies to enhance ranking, relevance, and conversational search capabilities.
Manage Stakeholders: Partner with cross-functional teams and executives to align technical solutions with member and business needs, ensuring our search products remain competitive and forward-looking.
Drive Innovation: Stay abreast of emerging technologies and industry trends, and incorporate best practices into the search platform.
Mentor and Inspire: Provide leadership and mentorship across engineering teams, fostering a culture of innovation, collaboration, and technical excellence.
Qualifications

Basic Qualifications:


10+ years experience in building AI-powered consumer products at scale, with at least 5 of those years in a technical  leadership position.
Hands-on experience developing and scaling consumer-facing search products at scale with a strong understanding of relevance algorithms, retrieval techniques, personalization, and system infra.

Preferred Qualifications:

Proven track record of applying AI/ML techniques and deploying large language models in production relevance systems to drive meaningful improvements in user experience.
Expertise in building robust, high-availability systems capable of handling large-scale, high-velocity data and query volumes.
Demonstrated ability to influence organizational and company wide technical strategy and lead complex cross-functional initiatives, ensuring alignment between technology and business goals.
Ability to tackle ambiguous, high-stakes challenges and develop innovative solutions that push the boundaries of search technology.

The pay range for this role is $238,000 to $3+0,000. Actual compensation packages are based on several factors that are unique to each candidate, including but not limited to skill set, depth of experience, certifications, and specific work location. This may be different in other locations due to differences in the cost of labor.
