Job Description

Position Overview:

Loads and unloads Pella delivery truck on assigned route. Provides customer service and communication from the field. Ensures product is delivered to customer within Pella quality standards. Assigned teams and tasks will vary based on business necessity.

Responsibilities

Responsibilities/Accountabilities:
• Loads and unloads trucks per delivery paperwork
• Works in a way that protects the product from damage during the delivery process
• Performs visual quality inspections on product while loading and unloading
• Collects money from customers on COD orders and issues a customer receipt
• Notifies manager or coworkers of shortages, discrepancies or anticipated needs
• Obtains customer signature as a verification of delivery or pick-up
• Develops continuous improvement suggestions
• Meets company safety requirements by keeping work area neat and clean, following safety precautions and wearing required safety apparel (i.e. shoes, safety glasses, fall protection, seat belt, etc.)
• Promotes and facilitates continuous improvement activities in the department
• May act as a back up to warehousing job duties which may include; Loads and unloads trucks, verifies load lists, and moves materials and items to storage, production, service, office or other designated areas
• Sorts and places warehouse materials or items on racks, shelves, pallets or in bins according to predetermined sequence such as location, order number, size, type, style, color, or product code
• Assembles customer orders from the stock and places orders on pallets or shelves, marking the material with identifying information

Qualifications

Qualifications:

Education and/or Experience:

High School diploma or General Education Degree (G.E.D.) required. Six months to one-year related experience preferred.

Computer Skills

Familiarity with computers preferred. May be expected to develop proficiency in Pella proprietary software (i.e. PQM, POETS, OMS, etc.) and/or company email systems (Outlook).

Communication/Language Skills:

Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos. Ability to write simple correspondence. Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations to customers, clients, and other employees of the organization. Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations. Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals.

Mathematical Skills:

Ability to subtract two-digit numbers and to multiply and divide with 10s and 100s. Ability to perform these operations using units of American money, weight measurement, volume and distance. Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as proportions percentages, area, circumference, length, width, height, time, and volume. Ability to apply basic concepts of algebra and geometry.

Reasoning Ability:

Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out detailed written and oral instructions. Ability to deal with problems in standardized situations. Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions. Ability to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form and deal with several abstract and concrete variables.

Physical Demands:

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand; walk; use hands to finger, handle, type or feel; reach with hands and arms; and talk or hear. The employee is occasionally required to sit, stoop, or crouch. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 200 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus. Repetitive body motions may be required. The employee may be required to perform tasks 1-2 stories above ground. Time commitment required of this position will vary with the seasons.

Work Environment:

Work environment with this job includes company warehouse facilities and customer job sites. The noise level of this job is typically moderate to loud. Temperature fluctuates with seasons. This employee is frequently exposed to power tools and moving mechanical parts.
