Mō te tūraka mahi | About the role

As a Learning and Teaching Specialist you will work collaboratively with teaching staff and subject matter experts to develop blended and online learning opportunities for diverse learning contexts. If you have learning design experience that would be an advantage. A key part of this role is to build capabilities in teaching staff to use educational technologies to enhance the learner experience.

As part of Te Ama Ako, the Learning and Teaching Development Team, you will be operating in a high-performing and self-managing team, which manages work collectively and has a strong culture of self-responsibility and service quality.

To be successful, you will have the following skills and experience:

Technical Proficiency and Online Development

· A strong capability in using and supporting various educational technologies, Learning Management Systems (LMS), ePortfolios and web conferencing tools (e.g., Moodle, H5P, MS Teams and Adobe Creative Suite).

· Basic HTML, image and video editing skills and knowledge of creative commons and copyright conventions.

· Ability to develop tailored learning experiences which meet LXD principles, including usability and accessibility guidelines, to meet quality assurance standards.

· Familiarity with emerging technologies like AI, and AR/VR and their application implications.

Adaptive Problem Solving

· Adaptable to new technologies, systems and processes.

· Flexible and imaginative problem-solving skills.

· Critical thinking and data analysis skills.

· Able to evaluate new technologies and methodologies to determine suitability and assess the effectiveness for educational purposes.

Self-management and Efficiency

· Balance multiple tasks and timelines effectively and independently to successful completion.

· A high level of accountability and the ability to communicate and collaborate effectively with stakeholders and team members.

Pedagogical Best Practices

· Able to align learning technology with effective learning strategies, pedagogies and learning design to support a range of diverse learners.

Project Management

· Ability to manage projects, from selecting new tools and platforms to supporting the implementation of large-scale digital initiatives.

Ko wai koe | About you

As part of this team you need to be a highly motivated, independent self-starter who is a good communicator, able to use effective consultation skills and have a flexible, proactive, problem solving approach. Sound technical writing and editing skills are also required.

You will have a passion for helping others by your learning and teaching technical skills and you will enjoy finding technical solutions to improve online learning experiences. You will have demonstrable strengths and experience in educational technologies (Ed Tech) and assessment design with a degree in a relevant field.
