Job Summary: Responsible for safely transporting children to and from the daycare, field trips, and other outings while maintaining a nurturing and engaging environment. In addition to driving duties, this role involves assisting in the daycare, supporting the children's development, and ensuring their well-being in accordance with Alberta's childcare regulations. The role requires both safe driving practices and early childhood education knowledge.
Key Responsibilities:
Transportation Duties:
Safely operate a vehicle to transport children between home, daycare, and outings.
Ensure compliance with all traffic laws and safety regulations while transporting children.
Conduct daily vehicle inspections to ensure safety, cleanliness, and proper maintenance.
Monitor and ensure proper use of seat belts, booster seats, and car seats as required by law.
Maintain accurate attendance and transportation logs for pickups and drop-offs.
Child Supervision & Care:
Provide supervision and care for children while on the vehicle and during field trips.
Assist children in boarding and exiting the vehicle safely.
Maintain a calm and positive atmosphere while managing children's behavior during transit.
Address any emergency or unexpected situations while ensuring the safety of all children.
Daycare Support:
Assist in classroom activities and daily routines when not performing transportation duties.
Support early childhood development by engaging in educational activities, play, and care.
Assist with planning and implementing age-appropriate activities that support children’s cognitive, social, emotional, and physical development.
Collaborate with the daycare team to ensure each child's individual needs are met.
Maintain open and respectful communication with children, parents, and other staff members.
Compliance & Safety:
Ensure all safety standards are adhered to during transportation and within the daycare environment.
Follow all daycare policies, procedures, and provincial regulations related to childcare and transportation.
Maintain certifications and participate in professional development as required (First Aid, CPR, etc.).
Qualifications & Requirements:
Valid Class 4 Driver's License with a clean driving record.
Early Childhood Educator Certification Level 1, 2, or 3 (Alberta).
Current First Aid and CPR certification.
Strong knowledge of traffic laws and safety regulations.
Experience working with young children in a daycare or early learning environment.
Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
Ability to manage time effectively and balance multiple responsibilities.
Clean background check, including a vulnerable sector check.
Physical Requirements:
Ability to sit for extended periods while driving.
Physically capable of assisting children in and out of the vehicle.
Ability to lift children or equipment as necessary.
Work Schedule:
Flexible hours, including morning and afternoon shifts for transportation, with additional hours in the daycare as needed.

Pay: $16.00-$18.00 per hour
