The work we do strengthens the communities we work and play in, with several key long term maintenance contracts throughout the Canterbury region and a number of civil projects currently being completed throughout the South Island.
About the role | Ko te kaupapa
The Application and Desktop Support Specialist delivers highâquality support across key business applications and endâuser environments. By developing strong working knowledge of core systems, the role helps users make effective use of available tools, supports system configuration, and resolves dayâtoâday desktop issues.
This position also contributes to smooth operational processes, including onboarding and offboarding, maintaining secure user access, managing technology assets, and completing audit and compliance requirements. It collaborates closely with internal teams and external contractors to provide effective solutions, user guidance, and training.
With a focus on clear communication and practical problemâsolving, the role provides input into assigned activities, and helps drive system adoption, user satisfaction, and ongoing digital improvement across the organisation.
What youâll bring | Ko ngÄ pukenga Ĺu
1â3 years of experience in application and desktop support, ideally within a midâsized or larger organisation.
Strong understanding of Windows and Android environments, with proven ability to troubleshoot hardware, software, and connectivity issues.
Experience supporting users across all levels of the business, both inâperson and remotely.
Confidence using service desk and issueâtracking tools (e.g., Azure DevOps or similar) to manage support tasks and maintain accurate records.
Familiarity with businessâcritical applications such as document management or construction/project software (e.g., MâFiles, Workbench, Procore).
Exposure to onboarding and offboarding processes, including user account setup, access provisioning, and asset handling.
Awareness of core cybersecurity principles, including safe access management, malware prevention, and data protection.
Strong documentation skills, including writing user guides, procedures, and internal knowledge resources.
Experience contributing to IT projects such as system rollouts, software upgrades, or infrastructure changes, as well as involvement in audit or compliance documentation.
Wellâorganised, able to prioritise effectively, and capable of working both independently and collaboratively within a wider IT team.
