Creative Media Tutor
Location: Wellington CBD
Full-time | Fixed-term | On-site
Please note this is a 6 month fixed-term role.
Yoobee College of Creative Innovation is seeking a passionate and industry-experienced Creative Media Tutor to join our creative teaching team to deliver our Certificate in Creative Media (Level 4) course. This role is ideal for a versatile educator with a strong foundation in creative media practices, including design fundamentals, digital content creation, and creative problem-solving.
The successful candidate will play a key role in supporting students at a foundational level, helping them build confidence, technical skills, and creative thinking as they prepare for further study or entry-level roles in the creative industries.
Key responsibilities include:
Developing and delivering engaging lesson plans and instructional materials aligned with the course curriculum
Facilitating classroom discussions and hands-on activities to promote active learning
Providing constructive feedback and guidance to students on their projects and assignments
Assessing student progress and maintaining accurate records of their performance
Collaborating with fellow tutors and program coordinators to ensure consistency and quality of instruction
Staying up-to-date with the latest trends, techniques, and software in the creative media industry
Fostering a positive and inclusive learning environment that encourages creativity and critical thinking
Qualifications
About you:
A tertiary qualification in creative media, design, visual communication, or a closely related field is essential
Substantial industry experience in creative media, design, or relevant disciplines is mandatory
Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills are required
Prior teaching, tutoring, training, or mentoring experience is highly advantageous
Demonstrated capacity to support diverse learners and cultivate an inclusive, supportive learning environment - Unwavering commitment to student success and learner wellbeing
Comprehensive understanding of creative media fundamentals, including visual communication principles and foundational design concepts
Demonstrable experience in digital content creation for print and screen-based media
Proficient in utilising industry-standard creative software and tools
In-depth knowledge of creative workflows, file preparation, and professional presentation practices
Dedication to upholding the values of tikanga and kawa of cultural practice, and valuing te reo Māori
