We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced technology leader to join our Technology and Data Directorate as the Data Centre Engineering Lead.

As Data Centre Engineering Lead, you will be responsible for leading the overall design and implementation of complex data centre projects, guiding long-term architecture, and providing technical expertise to inform strategic decisions. You will also advise and coach engineers, manage projects, and ensure the delivery of high-quality services to our customers. This position also requires regular travel to visit our sites where you will build strong team relationships, facilitate knowledgesharing workshops, and ensure handson collaboration with engineers and stakeholders.
Key Responsibilities:
Provide technical leadership and expertise in data centre infrastructure, driving innovation and informing strategic decisions
Lead the design, development, and implementation of complex data centre projects
Work with and support high-performing technical teams, promoting a positive and cohesive team environment
Collaborate with stakeholders across GCSB, NZSIS, and the wider intelligence community to drive alignment and innovation
Develop and maintain relationships with vendors, industry partners, and service providers
Ensure the delivery of high-quality services to customers, meeting Service Level Agreements and customer requirements

You will be a proven technology leader with deep expertise in datacentre architecture, who excels at mentoring engineers, driving crossfunctional collaboration, and translating complex technical challenges into strategic outcomes. You thrive in fastmoving environments, communicate clearly, and are passionate about engaging with highperforming teams through knowledgesharing and handson guidance.
Significant experience in Information Technology, with specialised experience in data centre infrastructure
Demonstrated experience delivering and maintaining secure, resilient data centre infrastructure
Experience supporting and motivating high-performing technologists
Excellent written and oral communication skills, with a proven track record of building effective relationships and achieving results through others
Ability to adapt to rapidly changing circumstances, taking decisive action to achieve goals
A relevant qualification in engineering, technology, or a related field
The expected appointing range for this position is between $142,093 - $151,566 per annum.

Have been a New Zealand Citizen for at least 10 years
