Job Description

Are you a dynamic, customer-focused professional with a passion for delivering exceptional event experiences?
We require an Events Planner to join our RotoruaNZ Business Events team, a pivotal role that supports Rotorua’s positioning as a destination for conferences and events.
Reporting to the Business Event Planner Lead, you’ll work closely with a high-performing team that oversees the full business events lifecycle, from destination promotion and bid development to venue sales and seamless event delivery. While your core focus will be on planning and executing confirmed business events at the Energy Events Centre and Sir Howard Morrison Centre, you’ll also have visibility across the broader process and play a vital role in ensuring Rotorua delivers on its promise to clients.

In this role, you will:
Build strong, trusted relationships with clients, including conference organisers, associations, and event professionals.
Work closely with confirmed clients to plan and deliver events that are seamless, on-brand, and showcase Rotorua’s unique strengths.
Communicate with clarity, empathy, and professionalism – ensuring all parties are informed, supported, and confident throughout the planning process.
Collaborate with venues, suppliers, and operators, acting as the key point of contact to coordinate logistics and maintain quality standards.
Bring energy and attention to detail, ensuring every event touchpoint contributes to an exceptional delegate experience.
This is your opportunity to contribute to a team that’s passionate about Rotorua’s cultural identity, manaakitanga, and visitor experiences – helping deliver high-impact business events to national and international audiences.
If you’re ready to bring your organisational skills, client-first mindset and event planning expertise to a role that’s both varied and rewarding, we’d love to hear from you.
