Our client is an innovative, privately owned New Zealand company proudly exporting or products to customers around the New Zealand and the globe. As their business continues to grow, we’re looking for a capable and detail-focused Assistant Accountant to join their team on a part-time basis.
This role offers flexibility (15–20 hours per week) and would suit someone who enjoys hands-on accounts/accounting work, thrives on accuracy, and wants to be part of a modern, fast-moving Kiwi business with a global footprint.
Reporting to the Director, you’ll play a key role in ensuring the smooth day-to-day running of the finance function. You’ll work across multiple systems and currencies, supporting both operational and reporting requirements of the business.
Key responsibilities will include:
Daily reconciliation of:
Bank transactions and Stripe payments
Multi-currency PayPal accounts
Shopify deposits, ensuring accuracy of coding
Processing duties and taxes invoices
Ensuring inwards goods are correctly receipted and matched to purchase orders
Processing supplier bills, including PO matching and preparing batch payments
Managing accounts receivable and customer allocations
Preparation of bi-monthly GST returns
Assisting with cashflow forecasting
Preparation of monthly management reports
Database management and data integrity across Shopify, Xero, and Katana
About you:
Previous experience in an assistant accountant or finance support role
Sound understanding of NZ accounting requirements, including GST
Confident working with accounting systems (Xero experience preferred)
Comfortable reconciling high volumes of transactions across multiple platforms
Highly organised, detail-oriented, and methodical
Able to work independently while collaborating with a wider team
