Te Tƫranga | The role
Join us as a Power BI Developer on a three-month fixed term contract, where youâll play a key role in enabling the FMA to be a truly data and intelligence led regulator. This is a hands-on role focused on designing, building, and optimising Power BI data models, reports, and dashboards that bring meaningful insights to life across the organisation.
Youâll work closely with both our Data & Analytics team and the wider business to shape clear, compelling data stories that support smarter, faster decision making. From refining requirements with stakeholders to applying strong UX/UI principles, youâll ensure our insights are not only technically robust, but intuitive, accessible, and ready for AIenabled analytics.
A critical part of this role is ensuring our semantic models are scalable, governed, and aligned with best practice, supporting consistency, data quality, and confidence in the insights we produce. Youâll also play an important role in continuous improvement, proactively identifying enhancements that strengthen the FMAâs modern data ecosystem.

You will be an experienced Power BI Developer with a strong track record designing, building, and optimising data models, DAX measures, and insights solutions in Power BI Desktop and Power BI Service. Youâll bring depth in semantic modelling, star schema design, and data storytelling, with an eye for detail and a commitment to accuracy.
Youâre confident working endtoend across requirements gathering, model development, visual design, and solution optimisation, and youâre comfortable translating complex technical concepts into clear, meaningful insights for nontechnical audiences. You take pride in building scalable, sustainable models that are AIready and aligned with best practice.
Collaboration is at the heart of how you work. You enjoy partnering with Data Engineers, Analysts, and business stakeholders to deliver solutions that genuinely move the needle. Curious, proactive, and solutionsfocused, youâre someone who continuously looks for ways to refine, uplift, and simplify - improving both the quality of our insights and the confidence of our users.
