Te Tūranga – About the role
This role plays a key part in transforming data into meaningful customer experiences. You’ll design and build machine‑learning and rules‑based models that unlock new, relevant, and engaging interactions with our shoppers. By applying your expertise in AI, machine learning, and business intelligence, you will help strengthen customer loyalty across the wider Foodstuffs business.
To do this, you’ll:
· Work collaboratively and cross functionally to leverage FSNZ’s rich data assets, to deliver robust logical and machine learning models which learn and target our customers at the right time, with the right offer and through the right channel.
· Develop, deploy and maintain predictive models (e.g. customer loyalty, churn modelling, next best action etc).
· Integrate and analyse large, complex datasets from both internal (e.g. transactions, loyalty, online behaviour) and external sources (e.g. market data, census).
· Drive experimentation design (A/B testing, uplift modelling) to measure the impact of interventions.
· Be the technical lead for complex data science projects, ensuring best‑in‑class methods
· Provide Foodstuffs with high quality data-based analytics, marketing intelligence and customer insight that provide clear and actionable outcomes.
· Develop data visualisation and capturing actionable insight and opportunities.
· Present insights to senior leaders incorporating compelling and commercial benefits of actions driven by data modelling.

He kōrero mōu - About you
You’ll bring the ability to connect and integrate data from across Foodstuffs and our external partners to uncover high‑value customer targeting opportunities. Your insights will shape and develop customer targeting that align with and elevate Foodstuffs’ strategy.
You’ll also bring:
· 8+ years of data science experience applied within a business context, ideally in retail/ FMCG and customer/loyalty environments.
· Proven track record delivering data science solutions that create measurable commercial impact.
· Experience leading data science projects end‑to‑end, from scoping to deployment.
· You will be a proficient developer in R, Python or similar data science language.
· Extensive experience using leading BI tools like Tableau, PowerBI or Looker.
· A collaborative and supportive working style, be dynamic and responsive to fast pace and demanding organisation needs.
· Commercial acumen and customer‑centric thinking.
· Strong communication skills with the ability to make the complex analytics accessible to non-technical stakeholders.
