Aphotic Productions is an independent production powerhouse shaping the future of vertical storytelling and we are gearing up for our next wave of productions. That means… we’re looking for a few new team members to jump in as we scale up!

We are seeking a skilled Video Editor to join our post-production team. The successful candidate will be responsible for editing complex narratives and ensuring a seamless visual experience that aligns with the show runner's vision. This role demands a high level of technical proficiency, creative instinct, and the ability to work under tight deadlines. Please note that this role requires editing of vertical micro-dramas. Please look up companies such as ReelShort, DramaBox and DramaWave if you are unfamiliar.

Must be northeast Ohio local
Must be able to work on location for roughly 16 shoot dates in January
This is an initial 3 month contract (Dec 2026 - February 2026) with a flat pay rate of $4,000-$6,000/month depending on experience
Timeline (pre-production) December 1-31: will consist of training and small edits. Yes, we know you can edit, but editing vertical shows is completely different animal. You will be working with the post team to get up to speed on the ins and outs of vertical storytelling
Timeline (principal production): January 8-30: on set DIT / AE / Post Production Assemblies
Timeline (post-production): January - February:delivery of 2 vertical shows will be completed by early mark and you will be a key member of that
RESPONSIBILITIES:

Collaborate with directors and producers to understand the storyline and execute the desired narrative structure
Edit episodes from initial assembly through to final cut, incorporating feedback to refine the product
Manage timelines and workflows to ensure episodes are delivered on schedule
Perform detailed quality control checks to ensure all episodes meet the technical specifications and creative standards
Keep up-to-date with the latest editing technology and techniques to enhance efficiency and quality of output
REQUIREMENTS

Bachelor's or higher degree in Film Production or related field
Proven experience as a Video Editor, with specific experience in episodic narrative or similar formats
Expertise in editing software specifically Adobe Premiere Pro, Davinci Resolve, or Avid Media Composer
Coloring and SFX experience a plus
Strong understanding of narrative pacing, visual aesthetics, and audio synchronization
Excellent communication skills and the ability to work collaboratively with a creative team
Excellent organizational skills and the ability to manage multiple episodes simultaneously
Ability to work effectively under pressure and meet tight deadlines
A keen eye for detail and a passion for storytelling
5+ years in film, advertising, digital, or creative production
Bonus: 1+ year of vertical content experience (but not required)
Background in production companies or commercial-scale projects preferred
Indie film experience = great, as long as you also know structured productio
Strong creative instincts and visual storytelling chops
Thrive under pressure and love a good deadline

Again, you must be a northeast Ohio local in order to be considered as that is where the physical production is taking place. Aphotic has a slate of 20+ verticals we are creating in 2026, so although this is a 3 month contract, it has the potential to grow.
