Job summary
The Event Manager holds a pivotal position at the QEII Centre, ensuring clients and their guests experience exceptional, award-winning service throughout their events. As the primary point of contact, you will oversee the full event lifecycle—from initial planning and coordination to on-the-day execution and post-event evaluation.
This role offers a unique opportunity to collaborate with high-profile clients across diverse industries, supporting them in achieving their event objectives. You will also work closely with the Centre's specialist teams, including catering, AV, and IT, ensuring seamless delivery of every event.
Job description
Key Tasks
• Effectively manage multiple high-profile events from the contract stage through to completion, utilising internal CRM systems to ensure seamless execution.
• Promote and provide expert advice on all in-house services, aligning client needs with available offerings. Where possible upsell extra services, to increase revenue.
• Identify, discuss, and finalise client requirements in consultation with internal stakeholders, ensuring alignment with Centre capabilities.
• Support the team in upholding Health and Safety standards during on-site events, ensuring compliance with regulatory and operational guidelines. Ensure client meets all deadlines regarding key documentation and milestones.
• Represent the Centre at internal and external promotional activities, including client meetings, tastings, and industry events as required.
• Collaborate with the operational team (security/cleaning/porterage/maintenance) to consistently exceed client and delegate expectations, achieving outstanding customer feedback.
• Adhere to Standard Operating Procedures and other departmental systems and processes.
• Demonstrate flexibility by accommodating evening and weekend work in line with business demands.
• Apply industry best practices and leverage emerging technologies to enhance the events experience and drive continuous improvement.
• Optimise shared resources across the events team, adopting agile approaches to address multiple and dynamic demands efficiently.

Experience
• Demonstrates exceptional stakeholder management capabilities, with the ability to negotiate effectively and foster positive engagement across internal and external stakeholders.

• Strong customer service ethos, diplomatic and ability to remain calm under pressure.

• Excellent communication skills, capable of articulating complex and sensitive issues clearly and effectively to varied audiences.

• Strong planning and organisational expertise, consistently delivering high-quality outcomes under tight deadlines.
Technical
• Degree in Event Management or equivalent professional experience.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and related applications.
• IOSH certification or equivalent expertise in Health and Safety standards within the event industry.
• Familiarity with Momentus or similar CRM systems is desirable.
• Knowledge of Revit or CAD software is advantageous.
Qualifications
• Degree in Event Management or equivalent professional experience.
