Qualifications

A successful candidate for this role will have 7-10 years of proven experience marketing major experiential events
You’ll have both a strategic mind and also be ready to execute with the highest level of detail
You will know how to create thumb-stopping content for Meta, Google and other advertising and can plan a 360-approach without the support of an agency partner
We need someone with an eye for creative and attention to detail
The ideal candidate can execute against the high standards and expectations of the leadership team but is also a proactive thinker that can anticipate business needs and strategize how to improve campaigns while always keeping the attendee/customer at the heart of every action & intention
This person should have 7-10 years of event marketing experience with full accountability deliverables
You will be organized, responsive, a self-starter and live by four key values: Action, Accountability, Authenticity and Attitude (meaning bring a good one every day)
You will be very hands-on and have a great sense of urgency in building programs that sell events
This person should expect to travel at least 30 days a year
This role – however – will require travel nationally possibly 10-12 times a year for shows, events, site-visits, planning meetings, competitive events, etc
Responsibilities
4-6 one-day “tour” events drawing 1,200-1,500+ attendees in major cities including: Miami, Los Angeles, New York, Nashville, Austin, London
1 major 4-day event each year drawing 4,000-5,000+ attendees from more than 25 countries in different cities (example: Dallas, 2025) which also includes the world’s largest hairdresser awards show with more than 1.5MM entries from +0 countries in the last 6 years
This role will be responsible for creating a 360-degree marketing program to sell tickets to these events, conceiving ideas to increase ticket revenue through new experiences and working synonymously with the operations manager to bring these events to life
The primary responsibility of this person is ownership of all marketing deliverables to drive attendance to our various shows & events to include but not limited to:
Creating a marketing activity calendar to show the 360 approach of what material to release when with what messaging to best drive attendance/ticket purchase to our events that spans social channels, owned-digital assets, eblasts, sms texts and other methods of communication
Working with the paid media manager to create a schedule, create artwork and report / optimize on campaigns
Creating an organic schedule of social content in partnership with our editorial team that includes briefing or creating the artwork oneself, scheduling the release and reporting on the activity
Owning the @btcshow IG channel and driving for community management and engagement and working with other brand/social managers to ensure cross connection from our various platforms and channels
Working with editorial and influencer team to understand role of each artist and sponsor and crafting assets that amplify the goals of behindthechair and our sponsor partners
Conceiving ideas/concepts for new events to build upon our strong relationship to our hairdressing community
Driving e-blasts and SMS text activity including asset creation, scheduling, audience development and reporting for optimization
Creation of digital assets for company-owned website (behindthechair.com) such as banners and articles (working with editorial team)
Development of print media strategy (when & where applicable) and ownership of execution
Briefing and driving for creative development of on-site print materials: banners, flyers, signage, etc
Reviewing competitive events for idea generation on content, marketing, pricing and collaborating with the VP of Marketing on the strategy of events for each year
While on-site at shows, create and executing marketing plans to sell tickets to other, future events
Having a detailed view of spend per marketing activity and reconciling those accounts in partnership with the Operations Manager to drive for P&L management
You’ll love accountability in the P&L of managing the marketing of every event, marketing logistics and operations on-site and always having a sense of curiosity on what makes attendees want to participate in our events
This role will report into the Vice President of Marketing & Events at behindthechair.com with a close, dotted line relationship to the CEO / Founder Mary Rector and will work in direct partnership with the Event Operations Manager to deliver seamless experiences for our internal teams, sponsors & attendees

You will have a strong knowledge of social media scheduling programs, SMS, Email, CRM programs (HubSpot experience is a plus) and simple design programs such as Canva.

You’ll love accountability in the P&L of managing the marketing of every event, marketing logistics and operations on-site and always having a sense of curiosity on what makes attendees want to participate in our events.

Location
