JOB PURPOSE:

As Senior Operations Manager you will report into the Head of Operations, and you will be responsible for

ensuring that the event runs flawlessly – ensuring implementation of health and safety guidelines,

operational excellence, strong communication and high levels of customer care and support throughout the

event cycle.

The Senior Operations Manager is expected to work closely with the Head of Operations & Operations

Executive to deliver shows of various sizes to exceptional standards. The Senior Operations Manager will

be responsible for managing the show budget and operational plan for each event. They must ensure

problem free planning, which can include last minute tasks, and service to exhibitors, visitors, contractors,

and internal teams is second to none. Attendance onsite for periods of time at events is required. The

Senior Operations Manager will train and develop the Senior Operations Manager to ensure a high level of

performance. They will implement exceptional standards of Health & Safety across the events they work

on. Feature build, signage, AV, and supplier relationships are all a key part of the day-to-day tasks of a

Senior Operations Manager.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

 Ensure effective control and monitoring of health and safety standards at the exhibition to include,

Fire Safety, Electrical safety, structural safety, crowd safety and food safety.

 Assuring and advising the senior management on all issues related to health and safety.

 Ensuring implementation of health and safety guidelines in accordance with the type of event.

 Creating awareness among workforce and management on health and safety policy, legislation, and

standards at office & onsite.

 Forming proactive health and safety manager duties which should have the ability to meet the

needs of the event for achieving operational excellence.

 To devise and manage an operational plan for each event.

 To ensure problem-free planning, exhibitor liaison, build-up, open days, and breakdown for each

event.

 Formulate and control the operational budget in partnership with the Head of Operations.

 Provide operational advice and assistance to the sales, content, and marketing teams.

 Manage floorplan layouts with the relevant sales personnel ensuring they are correct according to

all venue and are in line with the individual exhibition strategy.

 Work with colleagues to achieve best practice in terms of operational planning and management.

 Manage the delivery of essential event services by Official Contractors, Venue Service Providers and

selected third party contractors.

 Continually provide the best possible customer service for our exhibitors and visitors.

 Feature design and build that suits all parties, all requirements and within budget.

 Contribute to evolving the brand in line with the strategy for the business.

PERSON SPECIFICATION:

Key Skills

The successful candidate will be a confident and highly organised individual, with excellent interpersonal

skills. Customer care is key to this role, so you’ll have proven experience in this field.

 10+ years of proven Operations Manager experience is essential.

 Formal Health & Safety training such as IOSH certification.

 Strong planning and implementation skills from an exhibitions/conferences background.

 Experience of people management.

 Technical expertise and problem-solving skills.

 Production experience across exhibitions/conferences.

 Excellent time management.

 Ability to prioritise own workload.

 A high level of computer literacy, including excel, word and outlook.

 Understanding and knowledge of venue.
