Job Summary
The Team
The Strategic Innovation Division provides system level leadership for the BC health systems efforts to provide innovative clinical services and supports and to deliver on the health system strategy. The division supports health research across the province. In doing this work the division cooperates with the clinical leadership team, with the Health Sector Information, Analysis and Reporting Division and across the ministry and health system. The division provides the necessary supports to align clinical knowledge, data, and research into an idea engine for innovation in the health system and follow these ideas through decision to implement, and implementation.
The Strategic Innovation Division is located on the beautiful and traditional territories of the lək̓ʷəŋən People, in particular the Songhees and Esquimalt First Nations. The Role
Working in a team environment, the Executive Administrative Assistant is accountable for providing efficient confidential support to the Assistant Deputy Minister (ADM), Strategic Innovation Division, and actively supporting the broader Division objectives. The position is responsible for a variety of executive administrative support services to the ADM and Division leadership team which includes the timely and efficient flow of information between the Division and Deputy Ministers Office and maintaining effective working relationships with all levels of the ministry.
Qualifications:
Education and Experience Requirements
Grade 12 graduation or equivalent (GED). Preference may be given to applicants with subsequent related courses/training, such as office administration, public administration, communications, and records management. OR
An equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered.
Three years’ recent experience working in a senior administrative role (preferred experience working for an ADM or Executive Director).
Experience managing a demanding calendar by determining priorities and urgent situations, scheduling and coordinating appointments, meetings, travel arrangements, and compiling meeting materials.
Experience handling, coordinating and prioritizing information, in a confidential environment.
Experience coordinating and editing briefing materials, reports and / or correspondence, including proof reading with a high degree of accuracy.
Experience using MS Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint and other standard computer applications.
Preference Statements
Preference may be given to applicants with experience using systems such as Cliff correspondence tracking system, eApprovals, CAS, iExpense and Time and Leave.
Preference will be given to applicants who self identify as Indigenous (e.g., First Nations, Métis or Inuit).
In recognitions of the critical importance to this role of a lived understanding of Indigenous communities, history, values and cultural competencies, the above preference statement will be applied in the final ranked order for those who self-identify as Indigenous throughout the hiring process.
