The Centre for Teaching Support & Innovation (CTSI) provides leadership in teaching and learning at the University of Toronto and provides support for pedagogy and pedagogy-driven instructional technology for all teaching staff and teaching assistants (primarily through the Teaching Assistant’s Training Program) across the university’s campuses and divisions. As a hub for the network of teaching centres across the institution, CTSI plays a vital role in supporting collaboration between the centres and with the divisions, supporting institutional teaching and learning priorities and teaching excellence across the university. CTSI builds capacity among all our teachers, both faculty and graduate students.
Your opportunity:
Reporting to the Vice-Provost, Innovations in Undergraduate Education, the Executive Director is a senior leadership role that supports teaching excellence across the University. The Executive Director is responsible for advancing teaching excellence through the effective use of technological support and innovation, oversight of the management of programming and services that support effective evidence-based teaching practices, oversight of the University’s course evaluation system, and evaluating the office's service portfolio. The Executive Director provides strategic vision and direction as the University's needs and opportunities change. Through collaboration, communication, and scholarship, the Executive Director ensures that CTSI works with the U of T community to better enable quality academic experiences and enhance student learning outcomes and student success while enhancing the university’s standing as a leader in undergraduate, graduate, and professional education.
Essential Qualifications:
EDUCATION:
Master's degree from an accredited institution in Higher Education, Education, Curriculum Design, Instructional Design, Instructional Technology, or a related field.
EXPERIENCE:
Demonstrated experience (8-10 years) experience leading and developing educational strategies (e.g., faculty development, teaching in higher education, instructional design, etc.). Demonstrated experience applying assessment strategies and tools for the evaluation of instructional materials. Expert knowledge of instructional technologies, design principles, and educational trends in higher education. Leadership and strategic planning skills to guide instructional initiatives and manage diverse teams. Ability to assess and implement solutions with a focus on pedagogical outcomes and teaching effectiveness. Demonstrated ability to lead, manage and supervise staff, build a shared sense of mission, foster intra-staff collaboration, build strong teams, and mentor staff. Demonstrated experience managing budget expenditures. Demonstrated experience evaluating, managing, and implementing teaching and learning initiatives and academic technology projects to improve an organization's overall programs and services.
