ABOUT THE ROLE | Te tūranga mahi
The purpose of the position is to effectively manage the land and buildings of the Port of Auckland properties to provide an efficient and safe working environment by using best business practices to manage resources, services and processes to meet the needs of the company, visitors and customers. You will be responsible for managing building inspections, overseeing external refurbishments, handling budgets, and ensuring that all properties meet required operational and safety standards. Your role is crucial in ensuring smooth, safe, and effective operations at our port facilities.

You are a proactive and organised Facilities Manager with a solid background in facilities maintenance and contractor management, ideally in an industrial or port environment. You have strong communication skills and the ability to effectively manage multiple tasks and stakeholders. With excellent troubleshooting and project management abilities, you can prioritise tasks efficiently while ensuring compliance with health and safety regulations. A keen eye for detail and a hands-on approach to managing maintenance needs are key in this role.

To succeed in this role, you will need:
In-depth Knowledge of facility management principles, including maintenance, lifecycle management, and vendor relationships.
Ability to Manage Multiple Stakeholders to collaborate effectively with internal teams, contractors, and tenants to ensure projects are completed on time and within budget.
Attention to Detail in conducting inspections, documenting issues, and following up on repairs.
A strong commitment to ensuring compliance with health, safety, and environmental standards, and managing contractor safety.
Experience in budgeting and tracking Opex and Capex spending, with a focus on cost control and timely processing of payments.
Strong communication skills and the ability to engage with contractors, stakeholders, and tenants.
Experience in coordinating and implementing health and safety requirements.
Good computer literacy, including knowledge of facility management software and reporting systems.
Competent project management skills, including the ability to prioritise tasks effectively.
Excellent troubleshooting abilities, with a focus on minimising downtime and operational disruptions.
A valid driver's licence and flexibility to travel to various sites as needed.
