You will have the confidence and the capability to step straight into a specialist consultancy role within one of MHC's Practice areas to provide effective and efficient solutions that support our clients' business requirements, while working constructively with senior MHC and Client managers and other staff.
• You will work within the Financial Control team, with direct and regular liaison with the Financial Reporting Accountants, Financial Reporting Managers and Financial Controller, and occasional interaction with the Finance Director and Chief Financial Officer.
• You will coordinate with the teams who support Financial Control (Treasury, Operations) and those teams whom Financial Control supports (for example, Investor Relations, Financial Planning & Analysis).
Required skills and experience:
• Strong written and verbal communication skills are essential
• Ability to listen and influence/persuade through weight of reasoning and character
• Capable of challenging in a constructive and positive manner
• Ability to think strategically and commercially coupled with strong delivery skills
• Continually develop technical accounting knowledge
Key responsibilities:
• Supporting the financial reporting environment across the Bank.
• Developing systems and processes that optimise every element of the accounting, reporting and control processes.
• Running month end processes, ensuing appropriate rigour, challenge and attention to detail
• Assisting with the development of a rigorous control environment, including controls testing and reporting
• Maintaining the rigour of reconciliation and control processes, continually ensuring that anomalies are investigated on a timely basis
• Supporting the year end statutory processes, including liaising with external auditors
