This role will play a crucial part in developing and delivering leading practice and community-based approaches to increase and retain the number of Indigenous people working, teaching, researching, leading, and collaborating at UniSQ.
You will be responsible for creating programmes and strategies to attract, recruit, engage, develop, retain, and succeed Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander employees at UniSQ.
About the Role
This collaborative role works closely with the Pro Vice-Chancellor, First Nations, and other First Nations employees and community members, as well as being part of a supportive Diversity and Talent Strategy team.
In this role, you will help build the organisation's cultural safety, which supports a sense of belonging for First Nations peoples, history, and cultures.
Your Responsibilities
Develop programmes and strategies to increase Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander attraction, recruitment, engagement, career development, retention, and success at UniSQ.
Collaborate with stakeholders to create pathways to 'grow our own' First Nations talent.
Help build the organisation's cultural safety, supporting a sense of belonging for First Nations peoples, history, and cultures.
About You
Ideally, you'll be an experienced First Nations professional passionate about shaping the First Nations employee experience at UniSQ.
You will have experience working and communicating sensitively and effectively with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people, including a sound knowledge of both cultures and societies.
You will apply empathy and build rapport with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander employees and communities, highly aware of differences in communication in cultural contexts.
You will have knowledge of contemporary human resources practices, particularly recruitment, employment, and career development strategies and practices.
You will have highly developed written communication skills, able to write and edit strategy documents, promotional content, and practical information.
You will have experience in developing, implementing, evaluating, and reporting on projects and initiatives.
