About the Role
This, senior role within the team as the Flood Strategy Project Officer will manage the governance, and deliver strategic flood projects, to support the successful delivery of the Flood Management Strategy - Port Phillip and Westernport 2021-2031. The role will provide strong project management alongside a high level of partner engagement to deliver projects that support business decision making which enhances Melbourne Waters reputation in achieving flood management outcomes at a regional and local levels.
The Flood Strategy Project officer will support delivery of the Flood Strategy vision, which is together, Melbournians will be aware, responsive and resilient to flood risk: Melbourne communities, businesses and government will understand flooding, plan collaboratively and take action to manage risks and optimize opportunities for now and the future.
In consultation with the Senior Flood Strategy Project Manager, coordinate delivery of strategic flood projects and initiatives that meet Melbourne Water’s Flood Strategy commitments and objectives.
Manage and drive collaborative and engaged stakeholder relationships through engagement with partners such as the Department of Energy, Environment and Climate Action (DEECA), Councils, Emergency Service organisations (VICSES, EMV).
Coordinate complex multi-agency collaboration for setting flood management priorities.
Coordinate delivery of action plans and implementation plans designed with integrated strategic delivery at the core.
About you:
Highly developed experience in stakeholder engagement to support cross organization collaboration.
Strong interpersonal and presentation skills and an ability to communicate clearly and effectively with a wide range of people, sometimes in conflict situations
Strong organisational and project management skills, including project design, delivery, evaluation, budget management and reporting.
Experience in drainage planning, flood planning and integrated water cycle planning with experience in strategic planning for flood management.
Solid understanding of flood management challenges and techniques is preferred.
