We are seeking a talented Generative AI Data Scientist with expertise in OCR (Optical Character Recognition) and NLP (Natural Language Processing) to fill an open contract position on an advanced data science team with a major US retailer. Over 70% of our contractors have secured full time employment after contract ends. The ideal candidate's favorite words are learning, data, scale, and agility. You will leverage your strong collaboration skills and ability to extract valuable insights from highly complex data sets to ask the right questions and find the right answers. You will leverage your expertise in OCR and NLP to develop advanced AI models that solve complex problems and drive innovation. You will work closely with cross-functional teams to design, implement, and optimize solutions that contribute to our strategic goals.
Responsibilities
• Model Development and Implementation: Design and develop state-of-the-art generative models using techniques in NLP and OCR. Implement and fine-tune models to improve accuracy, efficiency, and scalability. Generate actionable insights for business improvements
• Data Analysis and Management: Analyze large datasets to identify patterns, trends, and insights relevant to OCR and NLP applications. Preprocess and clean data to ensure high-quality input for model training and evaluation.
• Collaboration and Communication: Work with data engineers, software developers, and other stakeholders to integrate AI solutions into existing systems and platforms. Communicate findings and technical details effectively to both technical and non-technical team members.
• Performance Monitoring and Optimization: Monitor the performance of deployed models and systems, ensuring they meet performance and reliability standards. Continuously optimize models to improve performance and adapt to changing requirements.
Qualifications
• Master’s or Ph.D. in Computer Science, Data Science, Artificial Intelligence, or a related quantitative field (Statistics, Mathematics, Engineering, etc.)
• At least 3 years of experience in in data science with a focus on generative AI, OCR, and NLP.
• Strong understanding of OCR technologies and frameworks (e.g., Tesseract, OpenCV).
• Deep knowledge of NLP techniques and tools (e.g., transformers, BERT, GPT).
• Experience with model deployment and integration in production environments.
• Fluency in a programming language (Python, Java, SQL)
• Familiarity with Big Data frameworks and visualization tools (Cassandra, Hadoop, Spark, Tableau)
• Soft Skills: Excellent problem-solving and analytical abilities. Strong communication skills, with the ability to convey complex concepts clearly. Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced environment
