Te Whiwhinga mahi | The opportunity

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Geospatial Technical Lead to join our Geospatial Analytics team. This role is pivotal in providing project delivery and technical support leadership for our capital programmes, particularly in geospatial data and transportation solution development. The successful candidate will also mentor junior and senior geospatial staff, manage workflows, and act as a first line of support for team members.

Key Responsibilities:

Technical Leadership: Lead and supervise project-related work, focusing on transportation solutions. Participate in product/service development projects that benefit spatial and visualization technologies.
GIS Support, Analysis, and Advice: Provide high-quality GIS advice and support for Auckland Transport projects. Maintain and present GIS data and solutions, and lead the development of GIS solutions.
Process Optimization and Documentation: Identify and recommend opportunities for process and systems improvement. Develop and report on improvement initiatives and contribute to policy and procedure development.
Stakeholder Management: Liaise with transportation subject matter experts and project stakeholders to ensure project requirements are met. Participate in product/service development projects that benefit spatial technologies.
Customer Relationships: Develop and maintain effective relationships with internal and external stakeholders. Provide geo-education and gather solution requirements.
Nā tāu rourou | What will you bring?

Qualifications: A recognized tertiary qualification in Geographic Information Systems, Geography, Spatial Science, or an equivalent discipline.
Experience: At least 7 years of experience in a similar role, with extensive experience in ESRI ArcGIS, scripting (Python, PowerShell, JavaScript), and administration of enterprise GIS systems. Experience with ArcGIS Portal, spatial ETL technology (Safe Software's FME), and platform technology (preferably Microsoft Azure). Experience working with transportation specific data and tools and GIS solutions.
Skills/Competencies: Excellent written, oral, interpersonal, and communication skills. Strong analytical and problem-solving skills. Ability to manage project delivery and offer technical leadership in geospatial solution design.
