Full job description
About the role

As a Government Benefits Advisor with the Queensland Public Trustee (QPT), you'll work in a small team to manage relationships with federal agencies such as Services Australia and the Department of Veterans' Affairs. You will respond to enquiries from a large regionally dispersed internal customer group, providing advice and guidance to ensure that customers of the QPT receive correct information and entitlements.

This is a hands-on advisory role that combines strategic insight with practical coordination. You'll work across teams, influence stakeholders and ensure services are aligned with both federal guidelines and the needs of Queenslanders.

In this role, you will:

Manage operational relationships with Services Australia and the Department of Veterans' Affairs, serving as the central point of contact for service matters.
Provide expert advice and guidance to teams across the organisation including senior leadership, on complex government products, legislation, and entitlements.
Facilitate the provision of financial advice in relation to Residential Aged Care accommodation options through external service providers.
Design and deliver training and capability-building sessions for staff in collaboration with Services Australia and Department of Veterans' Affairs, making complex policy accessible and actionable.
Manage systems and processes linked to the Centrelink online portal and Business Hub, ensuring secure access and operational integrity.

This is a temporary part-time (5 days per fortnight) opportunity based in Brisbane CBD. Please download the role description for more information.

About you

You enjoy problem solving, working with legislation and helping others navigate complex systems. Your ability to build strong working relationships, simplify technical information and provide clear advice will be key to helping our customers get the benefits they're entitled to.

The ability to communicate clearly and persuasively across multiple levels of an organisation.
Demonstrated experience in managing stakeholder relationships, with the ability to build productive partnerships across internal and external agencies.
Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to work independently, exercise sound judgement and manage competing priorities in a fast-paced environment.
Demonstrated capability in developing, implementing and reviewing systems and processes to improve operational efficiency.
