JOB DESCRIPTION
Star of the Sea Catholic School is seeking a faith-filled, energetic, and enthusiastic educator to join our vibrant school community as a Grade 2 Classroom Teacher for the 2025–2026 school year.
Grade 2 is a special and formative year in a child’s educational and spiritual journey. In addition to providing a solid foundation in academic skills, the Grade Two teacher plays a vital role in preparing students for the Sacraments of First Reconciliation and First Holy Communion. The successful candidate will embrace this sacred responsibility with joy, seeing it as an opportunity to lead young hearts closer to Jesus.
Key Responsibilities:
Plan and deliver engaging, developmentally appropriate lessons in all core subject areas based on the BC Curriculum.
Integrate faith formation throughout the day using the CISVA Religious Education Curriculum and the Finding God program.
Prepare students for and guide them through the reception of the Sacraments of First Reconciliation and First Holy Communion in collaboration with the parish and school team.
Create a positive, respectful, and inclusive classroom environment that supports students' spiritual, academic, and social-emotional growth.
Communicate regularly and effectively with parents and caregivers.
Collaborate with fellow staff members and support professionals as part of a dedicated and mission-driven team.
Participate in school Masses, special events, and community-building initiatives.
Qualifications:
Valid BC Teaching Certificate.
Committed practicing Catholic, in full communion with the Church, with a clear understanding of and love for Catholic education.
Demonstrated ability to plan and implement effective instruction for young learners.
Strong classroom management and organizational skills.
Warm, nurturing presence and a deep desire to see children grow in both faith and knowledge.
