Job description
**Empowering Communities through Visual Identity**
Our client is a Government and Council owned initiative, working for and with the people of Tamaki to shape the future of the community together.
We are seeking a skilled Graphic Designer to play a pivotal role in shaping and evolving the visual identity for our business. This 12-month part-time contract (32 hours per week) requires leveraging extensive experience to design culturally resonant and impactful creative assets for print, digital, and social platforms.
Working within a predominantly Maori and Pacific community, you will contribute to initiatives that foster engagement, understanding, and participation in regeneration projects and community programmes.
Key Responsibilities:
Deliver high-quality, culturally relevant graphic designs that uphold brand guidelines, and support communication and marketing strategies and community engagement efforts.
Create visual assets that promote awareness and participation in housing and community programmes.
Ensure all designs align with the cultural values and aspirations of the Maori and Pacific communities.
Maintain and develop the visual identity across all brands, including the development of brand guidelines.
Design and produce a wide range of digital and print materials, including brochures, flyers, social media posts, reports, website and digital advertising graphics.
Manage multiple projects simultaneously, while maintaining a high standard of design, meeting deadlines and engaging relevant stakeholders.
Lead the creative development of brand guidelines and overarching brand architecture.
Work closely with external partners, including print suppliers, photographers, and other creative professionals.
Contribute to brainstorming and concept development for new projects and campaigns.
Requirements:
Bachelor's degree or diploma in Graphic Design, Visual Communication, or a related field (or equivalent industry experience).
6+ years of experience as a graphic designer, ideally within a community-focused or public sector environment.
Experience working in, or designing for, Maori and Pacific communities, with a clear understanding of cultural representation and design that resonates with these audiences.
Video editing skills would be an advantage.
Proficiency in designing for a range of different medium, including print publications, digital marketing and social media platforms, with a deep understanding of how to design for different formats (e.g., Facebook, Instagram, websites).
A strong portfolio showcasing diverse design work, with an emphasis on projects that reflect cultural or social initiatives.
This role can be located at either our Panmure or Glen Innes offices (or both). If you have an understanding of Te Ao Maori principles and Pacific cultural frameworks, along with a love and experience of Graphic Design – looking for a 32 hour week contract – and can start asap – we would love to hear from you.
