Job Summary
A Graphic Designer with Project Management experience and Prepress Graphic Artist plays a crucial role in the packaging industry, ensuring that digital files are prepared correctly for printing. They are responsible for preparing and optimizing graphic and text files to meet the technical requirements of various printing processes.
Responsibilities
File Preparation: Prepare digital files for printing by checking and correcting color profiles, resolution, and file format to ensure compatibility with the chosen printing method.
Image Editing: Edit and retouch images as necessary, adjusting colors, contrast, and sharpness to achieve the desired print results.
Color Management: Manage color consistency across different devices and printing processes, using color calibration tools and techniques.
File Conversion: Convert and optimize files for different printing methods, including offset printing, digital printing, and large format printing.
Proofing: Generate and review proofs to ensure that the final printed product matches the client's expectations. This may include soft proofs or hard proofs.
Quality Control: Perform quality checks to ensure that there are no errors in the final artwork, such as missing fonts, image resolution issues, or color discrepancies.
Technical Troubleshooting: Resolve technical issues that may arise during the prepress process, such as file compatibility problems or printing equipment errors.
Communication: Collaborate with graphic designers, clients, and print operators to discuss project requirements and any necessary changes.
Software Proficiency: Be proficient in prepress software applications, such as Adobe Creative Suite, Adobe Acrobat, and other software used for file preparation and imposition.
Printing Techniques: Stay up-to-date with the latest printing techniques and technologies to ensure that files are optimized for the best print quality.
Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree in graphic design, printing technology, or a related field (though not always required).
Proficiency in graphic design software, particularly Adobe Creative Suite (Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign).
Knowledge of color management and color correction techniques.
Familiarity with different printing methods and their technical requirements.
Attention to detail and a strong eye for visual accuracy.
Excellent problem-solving and communication skills.
Ability to work under tight deadlines and manage multiple projects simultaneously.
Experience:
Prepress Graphic Artists typically have experience working in a print shop, publishing company, or a graphic design agency. Entry-level positions may require a few years of relevant experience, while senior roles may require more extensive experience in prepress and color management.
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $1+.00-$25.00 per hour
