About the Role

We're looking for a dedicated Handyperson to assist with general repairs and maintenance throughout the hotel, helping to keep everything running smoothly and looking its best. At InterContinental Sydney Double Bay, we value team members who are approachable, attentive, and take pride in their work. A little taste of your day-to-day

Every day is different, but mostly you’ll be:

Ensure a safe and secure environment for guests, team members in compliance with regulatory policies and procedures
Help guests needs to ensure their satisfaction
Maintain and order parts and supplies whilst minimising waste and maintaining “green” initiatives
May be responsible for hotel security to minimise risk of theft, crime and other hazards
General maintenance and upkeep of the hotel premises.
Minor repairs of non-gas or non-electrical kitchen equipment
Understanding of air conditioning principles
Minor plumbing e.g. tap washers, toilet flushers and seals
Minor carpentry work e.g. installation of skirting boards and adjusted
Minor Painting work including minor repairs to wallpaper
Changing light globes, maintain the in-house Television and movie system, room automation system.
Minor bathroom repairs e.g. grouting and minor repairs to tiles, replacement of silicone, minor water damage in hotel areas
Employee Criteria

Full working rights in Australia without restrictions (a kind reminder that sponsorship is not available for this role)
Some college or advanced vocational training preferred.
Experience in general building maintenance and/ or construction or equivalent combination of education and experience; hotel experience preferred.
Have a good understanding of both product and equipment used throughout the working day. Use all equipment in a safe and practical manner, ensuring the safety of
associates and guests.
Certifications include Level 3 EPA Certification, HVAC and refrigeration certificate, licensed plumber and/or journeyman status for electrician and carpenter may be required
Professional certification and licence if required by law
Passion for providing luxury experiences, not shy to go above and beyond to personalise our Guests stay and provide your local wisdom to enhance their experience
Ongoing availability to work flexibly as rostered, including nights, weekends and public holidays
Impeccable grooming standards and good personal hygiene
An organised approach, ability to handle large amounts of information at once and deal with various requests simultaneously
Physical fitness as you’ll be on your feet most of the day. Sometimes you’ll need to lift, push and pull objects, such as tables, up to 23 kg – we have the equipment to support you and keep you safe.
