About the Role:

We are seeking a strategic, experienced, and results-oriented Head – Legal & Compliance to lead our legal and compliance team. This role demands extensive expertise in real estate transactions, land acquisition, RERA compliance, legal risk management, and leadership. The ideal candidate will oversee legal strategies, ensure regulatory compliance, and provide legal guidance across real estate and infrastructure projects while mentoring a team of legal professionals.

Reporting directly to senior management, this role is essential to ensuring seamless legal operations, compliance with statutory obligations, and the management of risks associated with real estate development projects.

Key Responsibilities:

Legal & Compliance Leadership:
• Lead, mentor, and manage the Legal & Compliance team, ensuring alignment with corporate goals and statutory compliance requirements.
• Develop and oversee legal strategies to mitigate risks across real estate and infrastructure projects.

Land Acquisition Oversight:
• Manage the legal due diligence, clearances, and approvals associated with land acquisition processes.
• Liaise with government bodies, regulatory agencies, and other relevant parties to ensure compliance with statutory requirements.

RERA Compliance & Monitoring:
• Strategize, monitor, and ensure adherence to RERA (Real Estate Regulation and Development Act) across all real estate projects across PAN India.
• Prepare, verify, and file quarterly and annual RERA compliance submissions for all active projects.
• Monitor market developments related to RERA compliance by engaging with CREDAI state forums and relevant industry bodies.

Regulatory & Stakeholder Liaison:
• Act as the primary liaison with State Real Estate Authorities, CREDAI forums, and other key regulatory stakeholders.
• Ensure timely clearances and approvals by liaising with statutory bodies, handling RERA registration, and addressing compliance issues.

Legal Advisory & Dispute Resolution:
• Oversee legal advisory processes in strategic transactions and disputes.
• Lead risk assessments, statutory audits, and investigations related to real estate development and infrastructure projects.
• Handle high-risk disputes and represent the organization in legal forums, as necessary.

Team Development & Strategic Planning:
• Recruit, develop, and lead a team of legal professionals, fostering professional development and high performance.
• Collaborate with cross-functional stakeholders to assess risks, legal hurdles, and strategic planning.

Qualifications & Skills Required:
• Education: LLB/LLM from a recognized and reputable university.
• Experience: Minimum 20+ years’ experience in real estate, infrastructure, legal management, and land acquisition.
• Proven expertise in legal compliance, RERA risk mitigation, land acquisition, dispute resolution, and statutory clearance.
• Extensive experience managing multi-jurisdictional legal frameworks and legal teams.

Key Skills:
• Strong expertise in RERA compliance, real estate laws, and statutory obligations across various jurisdictions.
• Comprehensive knowledge of legal risk management, legal due diligence, and real estate law principles.
• Proficiency in managing litigation, arbitration, and other dispute resolution mechanisms.
• Strategic and analytical problem-solving capabilities, with strong leadership and decision-making acumen.
• Proven negotiation ability with a focus on legal strategies in multi-party, multi-stakeholder transactions.
• Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with proven experience in stakeholder engagement and statutory liaison.
