As the Head of Procurement and Logistics, you will be responsible for overseeing the procurement of consumables, materials, and major vendor components (e.g., engines, avionics) to meet the company's needs. You will play a key role in ensuring regulatory compliance, managing supplier relationships, and driving continuous improvement in logistics. This is an excellent opportunity for a decisive, commercially minded leader to shape procurement strategy and contribute to the growth and success of Britten-Norman.
Key Skills and Attributes:
• Lead the procurement of consumables, parts, materials, and services to meet company requirements, adhering to aviation standards.
• Monitor procurement activities to achieve cost savings and optimize commercial terms with suppliers.
• Ensure regulatory compliance, including Nominated Post Holder responsibilities, and maintain adherence to all import/export regulations.
• Negotiate with suppliers to secure the best commercial terms and manage complex, high-profile procurement projects.
• Develop and implement an inventory management system aimed at achieving zero stock-outs for fast-moving/consumable items.
• Mentor and coach the procurement and logistics team to deliver high-quality, on-time results.
• Monitor supply chain risks, identify issues, and develop mitigation strategies.
• Collaborate with the Senior Leadership Team on strategy and provide reports on procurement progress and performance.
• Innovate new ways to source, procure, and manufacture components to drive cost savings and efficiency.
• Support the company's ITAR compliance and manage the export/import of restricted items.
• Strong commercial acumen with a proven track record in procurement and logistics management.
• Extensive experience leading procurement teams and managing supplier relationships, ideally within the aviation industry.
• Excellent decision-making and problem-solving skills with the ability to work to tight deadlines.
• Attention to detail and the ability to monitor and optimize complex procurement processes.
• Strong communication skills, with the ability to communicate effectively at all levels, both written and verbally.
• Resilience under pressure and the ability to manage competing priorities in a fast-paced environment.
• Experience with ITAR regulations and international import/export compliance.
• Ability to thrive in an SME environment, with a hands-on approach and adaptability to a range of tasks.
Minimum Qualification Requirements:
· 5 GCSEs Grade C/4+ incl Maths / English.
· Two A level grade C passes (min 160 points) or equivalent.
· CILT / CIPS – Level 5 or equivalent.
· IOSH is not essential but would be highly desirable.
· Project Management – Intermediate PRINCE 2 or equivalent is not essential but would be highly desirable.
Required Experience
· Previous experience in a similar role.
· Procurement database.
· Experience of a manufacturing or heavy maintenance environment.
· Sourcing both nationally and internationally.
· Experience in an ISO+001:2015 accredited company.
· Experience in the Aviation sector is not essential but highly desirable.
· Experience in import/export procedures (HMRC/Customs).
· Experience handling ITAR equipment.
