Health Education Program Coordinator

The City of New York's Department of Health and Mental Hygiene seeks a skilled Health Education Program Coordinator to oversee the development and provision of supportive services for doula clients and community residents. The ideal candidate will have strong coordination and organizational skills, with the ability to manage projects and work independently in a community setting with diverse populations.

Key Responsibilities:
Coordinate scheduling and registration for all HSB and CDI classes, including childbirth education, newborn care, infant safety/CPR, Family Foundations, ROSE, and Before and After Birth: Protecting Your Emotional Health.
Conduct outreach and recruitment, including through tabling, distribution of flyers, and other means; monitor registrations from Eventbrite, email, and the online enrollment form; send out Zoom links, handouts, and other resources.
Complete set-up for in-person and virtual classes, including securing physical location and creating Zoom registrations; attend in-person classes to support as needed.
Draft and distribute the monthly Healthy Start Brooklyn Activities Calendar of classes and events to referrers.


Required Skills and Qualifications:
A baccalaureate degree from an accredited college and two years of experience in community work or community-centered activities in an area related to the duties described above, or equivalent combination of education and experience. Strong understanding of and commitment to birth equity is essential. Experience working with community members and organizations, providing instruction in perinatal support, and understanding of community development and health issues in urban, underserved neighborhoods are also highly valued.
